The new chatroom has been received with mixed reviews, we certainly have a lot less features now. No cams, no colored messages and slightly boring emoticons.

However the new chat has one big advantage: It doesn't crash. And that let's me worry about other things than continuously rebooting the chat server.

So we are officially shutting down the old chatroom effective immediately. The chat page has been updated.

We will add features to the new chat over time, including colored messages, maybe image uploads and the like. We may even add a cam feature one day, although that is currently looking fairly difficult, so it's low on the list of priorities for now.

Please let me know your thoughts and what features you most urgently want to see added.

For those of you who are having technical issues with the new chat, please speak up. We'll try and sort you out and also add an alternative chat client based on Flash soon that you can try.

Thanks for your support as always and I'm looking forward to directing my energy more towards improvements and less towards maintenance from here on out.

to to any and all about my "complaining" about chat not being active
just miss my "fix" of chat, here on Milo.

checked it out - not impressed. total lack of features, no visual elementes. there isn't even a legitimate exit button, you have to press "back", or close the page.

and i had an awful lag when posting messages. about four or five seconds.

needs major work

I'm not sure if others are having the same problem, but I'm booted from chat on average of four or five times each time I've logged in. Seems to happen about twenty miuntes after I've logged in.

I recall a conversation, with chat techie, who Was working on this issue,
specifically and had it as a "big" priority
I am not sure if the problem has been "fixed" but
I know work was being done, try again and if things still not "working" right

Thanks SC, its nice to know. I was booted again today, I'm going to say about 15 times in a 3-4 hour period. I'm a patient person, and certainly don't mind waiting for chat to be more user friendly. Just information if it helps people figure it out

I would like to use these functions:


- list of chat partecipant before entering in the room
- 2 or 3 chatting room
- possibility to upload pics
- watching who are writing
- sounds configurable on new messages, new roommates and so on
- direct link to personal milo profile from the chat roommate list

Tomorrow's scheduled downtime is designed to patch this problem. It's one of the handful of bugs I hope to get patched on the chat server. If you're still having issues afterwards feel free to send me a forum PM if they're up / reply here and let me know.
