It's pretty embarrassing to write about this while sober, so I'll jump right in: I often fantasize about being spanked, and get a thrill from having a warmed bottom. Unfortunately I live in a tiny apartment and I'm highly self-conscious about noise.

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any quiet techniques or devices for self-punishing the posterior. They needn't be especially painful. For me, the thrill's in the self-humiliation. So far, the best I've come up with is massaging Icy-Hot into my cheeks for a pleasant toasty sensation. Hopefully you can point me toward some better tricks. This isn't a request for dares, but I could offer feedback if anyone is so inclined.

I was deliberately avoiding anything that can
                                        draw blood.

You can always get a section of the plastic floor mats they sell for office chair on carpet... And cut away a section to fit a nice hard chair to sit on... They aren't sharp enough to draw blood, but you'll know it's there, especially if you move or squirm at all.

I tried this out with one of the backseat floor-mats from my car. Unsurprisingly, the blunted rubber spikes were quite uncomfortable to sit on, even more-so than rice -- though both options were pretty humiliating, so... thanks!

I'm still enamored of the "punishment panties" idea. I had thought of buying a thin floor-mat, cutting out a section and sliding it down the back of my briefs, but those mats run $20 and up -- a little pricey to experiment with. So it's back to beads.
