That's really odd for such a well run site. The Issue of the two supposed winners this month finds it's topic Locked. I'm a huge fan of this site, the people who run it and all the people who put forth the great effort for the teases. One of my favorite is submatt, his work here is immeasurable. The Asian TEASE did not win and should not be forced upon us. alpah won fair and square with the long tease and should be recognized properly and not need to share his victory. All do respect to those of you that run the site, i certainly admire all that you do. I just think it's wrong and would've posted this in the thread that is dealing with it, but was even more surprised to see it locked. Just my opinion.

I have to agree on at least one point here.

First, I understand the logic behind the double award this time around. I know I'm not the only one who mentioned the possibility of a tie-breaker vote, but when I suggested it, I meant it as an option for future ties. I think it is fair to give the award to both authors in order to keep from changing the rules without warning. So, congratulations to both alpah and submatt!

But I was also surprised to find the thread labeled 'An Apology' locked. I'm sure the thought process that lead to that decision was reasonable, but I just don't get it.

unfortunately there wasn't any clear defined rules about what would occur if there was a tie breaker which would undoubtedly lead to one side feeling cheated when they lost, but this is something that could easily be fixed with a simple award to both parties to prevent any misgiving to either side, something that i am happy with, after all submatts a great author and one of my favorite teases is his and it is a honor to be joint winner with him.

as for the topic being locked, i think you'll find every thread locked that has become warn out and no longing an announcement. There was an opportunity to post in the thread as i did with a silly joke a day later. Now im not a tech guru and can only think of limited reasons why this makes sense. but i believe it makes sense to lock threads so you don't get thousands of congratulations two months after the TOTM.

If you see the other topics in the announcement forum, you can see that we lock all older topics after a little bit of time. So it was just a normal process and has nothing to do with the issue of the last TOTM.

The reason is, an announcement exists for informing the people about current news. If we would let open all the threads the people couldn't see immediatly which news is new and which is old because there would be no temporally order.

I think that's the reason maybe seraph0x can tell you more.

My understanding of why it was a draw is...

We had the normal TOTM voting. We obviously had a draw. So, the voting was extended for a little while longer. When the time once again came to pick a winner, we had another draw. So, the voting was extended again. At some point along the line, Submatt was winning, at that point the voting was changed into a new TOTM system when eventually Alpahde5 won.

Because the voting system was changed while Submatt was winning. He obviously felt cheated. Thats the reason for the apology and why we have two winners of the TOTM. There are different points of view as to what happened. This course was taken because it pleases both parties.

Now, as Dark said. After a while topics in the announcements forum get locked. That is so people dont go posting in threads that are no longer relavent.

Thank You so much and yes it does answer all my questions. i didn't even know that the voting went 3 rounds, i thought it was only 2. As i said, i am a huge fane of submatts and vote for his work mostly. i just thought alpah did a phenominal job with this tease! So when i thought he had won, i thought it should show. No matter, it's all clear and our happy, suffering, denied community continues on.
