What's with Pr0nHub?

I discovered CH by accident some time early in the COVID-19 lockdown panic and downloaded some 180 videos from there ("premium" privileges were free at the time). I enjoyed working my way through them, then going back to post feedback to their creators, but now I can't find virtually any of them any more. OK, there are a handful but it's really difficult - the PH search function is broken. Used to be that if you type your search term in double quotes e.g. like this you would get every video with *both words* in the title. Now it shows you every video with "cock" in the title *AND* every video with "hero" in the title - which is singularly unhelpful.

I read or heard somewhere - I think on a on a mainstream news outlet - some time ago that PH had quietly removed a lot of their content (because copyright?) It maybe looks like CH has been the major victim here?

There was nothing quiet about it. A while back, due to press about their policy of letting anyone upload questionable things, they hid away the uploads of anyone who didn't have a verified account. If you're willing to verify yourself, then you can start uploading things again, but most CH creators aren't willing to do that. Most CH videos get put on Spankbang.com instead now.

I guess that's easier than having to deal with all the complaints, and potential lawsuits. I remember reading - long, long time ago - that X-Art makes more money out of legal action than from subscriptions to the site (Although given their recent spot of legal bother it's hard to understand how they could be doing that much suing and not have better lawyers by now).

I don't know that the quality of the lawyers was the main sticking point this time. I think it was the New York Times (at least one of the major publications) that had an article about how you could find underage porn, revenge porn and porn with real violence on PornHub, since anyone could upload. There was an uproar about it, and MasterCard and Visa both cut them off. Since that's what most people who purchase their premium memberships use, and fans tipping all the performers who uploaded to PornHub use, it was a massive economic hit to them.

So, they blocked all uploads for people who weren't verified, (in fact all uploads at all for a little bit) and hid away all videos from unverified uploaders. They went from something like 13-14 million videos available to just under 4 million in the process. And now anyone who uploads has to be verified, which involves sending them a photo of yourself and real life info. Obviously, a lot of people won't do that. At this point, PornHub is a shell of what it used to be, and not just for Cock Hero.

But yeah, the tl;dr is to go looking at Spankbang instead. :)
