Ok so I enjoy reading milo's forums and I like listening what all yall have to say. So now I would love to hear some opinions...

Marijuana, should it be legalized in the U.S? and if it is... how should it be regulated? taxed? ect ect..

It should be regulated and taxed as alcohol is. There is no logical thought process to justify it being illegal while cigarettes and alcohol are legal.

It would probably be 21 at first, and then gradually lower.

Legalize it! Don't criticize it!

I can't wait for the day when people wake up and realize how stupid it is that marijuana is illegal. There are so many benefits to it being legal. First kids would have a harder time getting it. In a study I read kids in highschool said it is harder to get cigarettes than weed because it isn't regulated. Second, it is only considered a "gateway" drug because the people you deal with to get it often sell other things. Finally, if it were taxed and regulated the US would make shit tons of money. I forget the figures but in CA they make over a billion dollars a year by taxing marijuana.

Overall in my opinion weed should be legalized...

It should be 21. I am a firm believer that it shouldn't be in highschool. If not for the same reasons alcohol should not be in highschool

I would have thought
Prohibition showed it don't work.

Was the world more evil before it was banned.
Why spend money in prevention when you can earn money in regulation.

tell a person that they must not do something and they will try.
And when they find they like it ???????

Simple. Alcohol and tabacco companies lobby against it because they do not want to A) have to change their business model or B) loose a lot of sales to new cannabis companies

Personally I think there is an argument for legalising all drugs. A legal product is far easier to control, and rather than causing massive social troubles and draining the public purse, it would raise tax. The social problems wont just go away, but they will be easier to manage with all the tax raised.

It being 21 isn't going to keep it out of highschool, anymore than keeping alcohol 21 is keeping it out of the hands of highschoolers. Most of the world has a drinking age that is the same as their voting age, so I don't see why it can't be tied to "drinking age".

which is 18 in most places.

Um...it is legal in lots of other countries. Perhaps someone from outside the States could weigh in so we can wrap this up?

I think a better question for those of us in the US is, which will be legalized first: pot or gay marriage?

Gay Marriage. Unless the GOP wins and gets the white house, at which point all bets are off for everything, ever.

And I am not from the US.

While marijuana should be legalized, at a minimum it be legalized at the federal level in the U.S. for medicinal purposes. I've used it to alleviate toothache pain twice before being able to visit a dentist. I also knew two people who used it to alleviate the side effects of cancer medications before succuming to cancer.

The only reason marijuana is not legal for medicinal purposes in the U.S. is because the the pharmaceutical companies don't have a patent on it. Otherwise, there would be ads all over the television in the U.S. for medicinal marijuana.

Also, there is an entire industry that is reliant on keeping drugs illegal (drug testing companies, prisons, the Drug Enforcement Agency)
