The gates of hell were one of the first things we bought... I think it got used only a few times before we bought the next toy and I don't think we've seen it since! It doesn't really do much and can be a little awkward. There are better toys. Look through a website such as lovehoney.co.uk under the bondage section for similiar things.
By all means buy such a toy but don't spend an arm and a leg on it.

The sort of things you can use it for are obviously interesting masterbation (with some lube) but also attatching leads can be fun, tying it to the bottom of the bed while you service your mistress in whatever form she chooses etc

Bondage tape is a really fun and adaptive toy... one you'll keep using it loads of different ways. Remote vibrators are also fun, especially the kind set off by mobiles. great for going out to meals together etc

I do not recommend it for long term (I agree with cider)

Long time lurker here with a suggestion. Instead of buying one, make your own using O-rings from your local plumbing supply or hardware store. O-rings come in various sizes allowing you to "custom" fit your equipment. Keep a pair of sissors or side cutters handy to cut them off in case of problems.

Thanks for all the comments! Sounds like most people think of the gates of hell mostly as a chastity device? Not sure we're necessarily interested in going the chastity route just yet, but good tips if we do :)
