I have advised he gets an USB memory stick and uses portable Firefox.
As this means all his web actions are on the stick and not left on the host PC.

I purchased a seagate external 750 gb drive
and backed up the entire hard drive.

for further reference - seagate sux really bad. One of the crapiest HDDS there is, IMO. I'v seen dozens of them burn in less than 5 years. WD is so much better.

Are those SATA 2" or 3.5" drives that failed ?
