Nyx - set/unset in preview

As there are no EOS yet, could you possibly fix the unset() command bug in preview mode? The thing is that this particular command isnt working in the editor, while it's functional in the actual tease.
It's just that I have to actually publish the tease to test it, and that's not cool.
If it's too much work tho (wich I expect is not the case), you may forget the request. After all, I managed up till now with no major bugs somehow.

Sorry to say it's not that simple. There have been tons of great suggestions for Nyx in the last two years, but in 2009 my hard drive crashed, taking several days of uncommitted changes with it. I've tried several times to catch back up, but every time I tried, more problems came up (such as changes in the Flex framework, changes in other parts of Milovana, new FlashTeases using quirky bugs as features so that now I had to support them to maintain backwards compatibility).
Over time I spent weeks trying to salvage Nyx, but its problems are so deep and structural. Everything you fix just reveals ten bigger problems. I eventually decided it was better to scrap it and start working on Eos instead.

ok then, no problem. I just thought that the compiller for preview mode and the actual published tease should be pretty much the same, and if something works there and not here - it was some mistype, or lost comma, or something.
Well, but if you say so - no problem. We survived up till now ) And anyway it would seem very few are even using those.

Well, there is no question that you're right, it's just that I can't do anything about it.
I'm just going to have to work on Eos double-time and hopefully we'll get there soon.

The new tease system that we're currently developing/testing. Search for it in the forums, I leaked some information here and there.

When is it going to come out? If not soon, any chance of being a tester?

When it's done.
Well, actually it'll come out before it's done. It'll come out when I'm confident that at least it won't blow up the whole site.

Not right now, but I'll starting adding more testers over the next couple of weeks. To become a tester, your best bet is to have some FlashTeases under your belt and to be currently active on the forums.

why cant you decompile Nyx and take the scripts out of the working version? or is it to much hassle and easier to work on a new better script?
Also are you still working on the original php based teases still? (There is advantages to having them still worked on such as more hits on search engines and option to start tease at a certain page for teases that take more than 1 day)

Anyone can try and do that if they like. The problem is that all the variable names in the decompiled code will be mangled, so it'll be pretty hard to work with. Since Eos is at about the same set of features as Nyx, there really isn't much point in putting any more time into Nyx now.
The reason Eos is going so slow btw has nothing to do with Eos, the time I can spend on Milovana is just limited. In other words, if I spent that time on a decompiled version of Nyx instead, you'd have to wait even longer to see results. Also, often the time that I do spend on Milovana is going towards dealing with the day-to-day, like spam problems or other complaints, so part of it is just waiting for a quiet week where I have nothing else to worry about.

I'm definitely open to suggestions for the classic teases, you can post them in the Suggestions forum. That said, the classic teases are intentionally simple and have minimalistic features. So I'm looking to pretty much keep them as a picture with some unformatted text. I'm planning to give classic teases a more powerful image uploader and there are some open suggestions in terms of voting, favoriting and getting other related teases recommended to you. Such things are definitely coming after Eos is live.
As for search engines - I'm not too interested in increasing traffic to the site. Consequently, I'm not super-interested in SEO.

Yeah can understand that.
The Classic teases really could do with a page bbcode to link pages together there is many teases with long urls which have to be copied and pasted into the browser - which isn't great whilst in the middle of having fun lol
