Really an annoying thing. It shortens them, replacing some part of the link with "...".

But if you edit the post with this shortened link, or if you use "preview" function in a post with such link it will be damaged. Because not the actual link will be pasted in the edit form, but this shortened mask, leaving us with something like this:

I don't need the contents of a link (to start with it's just a link I posted a minute before I'v created this topic). This link is just an example how links here are damaged, and I'm just pointing that out one more time because it's really annoying.

Note: I did not go into the database to fix existing posts with this problem. (That would be quite hard/impossible.) That means posts that currently contain broken links due to this bug will remain broken. However, if you quote/edit a link now the problem will no longer occur.

Thanks for the report - I did run into this issue myself, but getting a report was the motivation I needed to finally hunt down the bug behind it.
