When using the metranome, is it one stroke up then one down for each tick or up and down for eack tick?

Most common interpretation is the hardest one of course: 1 tick = up+down unless stated otherwise

It was not stated but 1 up one down is what I was doing. I can't handle the alternative untill I have more practice.

good thing in this case is that the practice itself is fun and not just a tedious bore like it usually is (playing instruments and the like)
