Changing names may confuse people.
If someone want's to change their chat-name, they should change their forum username as well .

i agree with Green :-) keep them the same

ur username also gives you some kind of accountability too, within the community

I think it's good that our username's are tied into our forum accounts, like alex said it gives some form of accountability. It's too easy in most chatrooms to come in, act however you like, and then leave and log back in with another name. And I think it's good that we'll be able to recognise people we know of already from the forum and webteases :-)

I also think it's best to use the same ID as in the forums. In addition to the reasons above, I'd hate to think that some naughty boy might pretend to be me in the chat!

I don't use the chat but an user can easily register additional identities via the forum... but yes, I can't, I mean, no one can pretend to be Ms. D ~_~

True on both counts.
While it is obviously possible to have multiple accounts, and hence multiple identities in chat, it's a ruse that is fairly easy seen through.
First of all, you'd have to be active on the boards with the other accounts as well to avoid raising any flags.
Second, after a few sessions ones style of writing/chatting becomes fairly transparent.
It's damn hard to lose ones choice of phrasing, especially for people like myself who don't have english as a native language.

Besides which, given the relatively small size of the community, isn't the whole point of communication to get to know one another better?
(well that, and other.....*ahem*.....flighty uses)
It would be different had it been some large group carousing through a chat-room spouting endless inanities, but since the accounts are already as anonymous as you wish them to be, why go through all the trouble of heaping yet another layer on it?

Yet another 2 cents in the piggy. :-)

I think the best one is:

"Don't worry - that happens to all guys sometimes!"

I would say that seems to justify any ban...

Wow, that was some invective. I guess he doesn't know that you go in for that extreme anal play, eh Indy?

But seriously, thanks for helping to keep the chat a safe and welcoming place. I always appreciate your measured, polite, and resonable responses to people (at least in public :-) ).

Keep up the great work.

Cheers,
Jim
