Teases with hot illustrations intead of photos

I'm wondering how much interest there is in hot illustrations (a la sardax, my favorite, for example) instead of photos. How much of a role does the photo play?

I don’t have permission to get off, and for me the photos make all the difference between stopping and having to tear myself away. I try to find teases where the photos bother me the most.

Photos of these hotties are MAD better for Teases than Sardax. Psst..... men are visual. We are very very visual. i don't even like it when theres a cartoon or 2 mixed in with a good tease. That's just me.

Interesting reactions... I'd actually like to see some teases with illustrations, preferable with a cohesive series of illustrations (as opposed to a set of unrelated ones). Awhile back someone made a tease with drawings from Kama Tori (or Kami Tora?)... anyway, it was a series of drawings from a Japanese illustrator, and I thought it worked really well. So, yeah, that is definitely something that I'd like to see.

In my humble opinion, a tease with illustrations has a very different flavor to it than a tease with photos. A tease with photos usually says to the reader, "This is what you're seeing." There are exceptions, (the "artistic tease" comes to mind) but the vast majority of photo teases ask you to make a very literal interpretation of the images. I think it's easy for most readers to immerse themselves in that type of a tease.

Good illustrations (a la Sardax, Kami Tora, etc.) are often even hotter for me than a photo, but I've yet to see a tease use them well. In order to work well for me, I think an illustrated tease would have to have a very strong sense of personality in the text (something your writing definitely has already), since the idea would be to convince the reader that their mistress was speaking to them and showing them images that figuratively illustrate the situation they are in (or will be in, or could be in, etc).

So illustrations add a level of distance between the reader and the mistress in the tease, which is often very difficult to overcome. On the other hand, since you are a dominant female, your authorship would remove a level of distance. Instead of reading a tease written by a man and having to pretend the mistress is real, the reader would be reading a tease written by an actual mistress.

I mean, that's a big part of the reason I fell so easily before Goddess Lily in her first tease. I didn't have to imagine a mistress based on the images in front of me; I could imagine a mistress at her computer, typing up a tease and selecting images that would arouse her readers.

Does that help, or even make sense? It seems, based on the other responses, I may be in the minority on this point.

I'd definitely be interested, it'd be an interesting change of pace at worst and could be an awesome tease at best :) As for how much of a role the photo plays:

I might be in a minority here, but for me the writing is by far the most important aspect to a tease. It helps a lot if I also like the pictures, but if the writing isn't working for me I'm not very likely to keep clicking continue.

I think a tease with illustrations could work just fine, or even very well. I agree with some of the other posters that it would work best (for me at least) if the illustrations went with each other as well as with the text, I do find it a little jarring when the people and setting change dramatically from image to image and out of line with the text, and that breaks the mood (unless it's somehow accounted for in the writing).

In some cases illustrations can be even hotter than photographs, in that they let the imagination fill in the blanks in exactly the right way for the viewer...

While good pictures can take a good webtease to the next level I don't really feel they are necessarily a vital part of any webtease. The biggest part, for me, is the writing being well written and interesting. The pictures are just enhancing the writing.

So I definitively think a webtease can work with illustrations instead of photos.

Maybe I'm alone here but I'm find the combination of writing, interesting twists and turns, imagination and imagery to be all important, and in equal strides.

But back on the topic - I absolutely love illustrations. I find it plays to the fantasy aspects more than photos. Illustrations can exaggerate aspects of the feminine, of domination and of submission that photos cannot. Photos are generally better at being alluring, but illustrations can go to places that photos cannot.

I also generally prefer black and white to colour illustrations.

Thanks everyone. The feedback has been interesting. If the writing and passion is what drives it for many people, I think I could come up with a few teases that are fairly mindblowing - because it's designed by a cruel and sadistic woman. However, I wouldn't feel comfortable applying them to pre-existing photos of women in poses and scenarios.

Illustrations though, sure. If I could state what is in them. Sardax does a wonderful job of bringing my fantasies to life, so it's a no-brainer there. It might be something for me to look into....

I think a lot of people here can't wait to read a webtease by you, no matter what photos are displayed, but maybe that is just me Using drawings would be nice I really like BDSM art.

It's not just you, dark. Not many people could pull off a tease w/ no images at all but, Akasha, I'm pretty sure you could do it.
