Edgeware - my experiences and ressources

Hi everyone,
as I have over the years only consumed content around here I thought I might give back a little bit. I have not scripted, programmed or curated any content, so what follows is not my work but the work of others (I try to credit them as best as possible).
Edgeware and similar Software is intended to make it seem like your computer is infected with a virus. This is mostly done by displaying various (porn) popups all over your desktop (and some other neat tricks). It is not intended to cause your computer real harm. But be warned, there is Content out there that seems to be an Edgeware-Pack, but is actualy Maleware. To protect your self read more on that later.
The initial Edgeware seems to be from PetitTournesol https://github.com/PetitTournesol/Edgeware
The concept is that the Edgeware software can run an Edgeware-Pack, wich contains content (images, audio, video etc.).
This way Edgeware can be customised to acustom the users preferences. Sadly for me, most of the premade content is Hantai, Anime, Furry or similar content wich I do not prefer.
araten10 than forked the original Edgeware and made Edgeware++ https://github.com/araten10/EdgewarePlusPlus
Right now Edgeware++ is the tool to use, because so much more features ware added (head over there and read it all by your self). I want to focus on the per-pack config that was invented by Edgeware++. In the OG-Edgeware some people published not only an Edgeware-Pack but the whole Edgeware-Programm with it. While this seems convenient as it also allows the Pack-Creators of the OG-Edgeware to create a custom Edgeware config with it, it is also very dangerous. And you should never run any Edgeware program that comes packaged with a Edwarepack from a fileshare (but you can extract the Pack from it and run it with a safe Edgeware instance you know is safe).
A little less known but also fairly new is goonto https://github.com/dogkisser/goonto but sadly I couldn't find enough premade Content for it (But things can change).
To get Edgeware-Packs one could google of course, but originaly the reddit was the best source https://www.reddit.com/r/EdgingWare/
But now it seems that the best Packs and most importantly Edgeware++ Packs are in the Discord.
