A lot clearer i think, hard to get it perfect, tried for 4k this time, used two different AI models.

Loving these. Maybe make a master thread with all the ones you've done :)

Great work! I've done a few upscales myself in the last couple of years if you check my post history, its not always successful, but sometimes it really works well , like many of yours have - this one in particular worked well. I've not posted my many sub-par attempts - like the Blue Balls Challenge, which I would love to complete a upscale, but some in the series just don't seem to upscale at all.

. Would love to know which topaz model you use, and if you have any pointers as to what settings worked well. Sometimes making it work better at 1080p is probably the target to aim for, rather than 4k. But I did read a lot of guidance that the models sometimes work better when you just let them upscale. I'm not sure which is best. I also think increasing to 60fps and staying at 1080p is a good refresh if that works.

On the subject of Flux dance - I have always wanted to redo CH Gigaflux, but it's quite a long file. Would love it if you gave it a go.

Thanks, i'm no expert at this, i'm just experimenting. What i did with this one, is run it through Proteus at 1080p
then running it through the Iris model at 4k. The Gigaflux torrent is not working for me atm, do you mind
sharing it through mega?
I agree that for 720p content a 1080p upscale could be better. The problem i see with too much upscaling is the faces can get weird. For 4k you can upscale first to 1080p then 4k after (might reduce weird artifacts). You can experiment by using a small clip of the video and running it through a model, this way it only takes a minute or so to see the result.

i have DMed you a link. look.forward to see how you do!

one other thing i have done when upscaling is to use frame interpolation to deal with poor quality slow motion where the video sort of strobes. because the way the slow mo was created oringally, was by making multiple frames the same, rather than being interpolated. Sometimes this effect might be deliberate, but I find it distracting. When you increase frame rate (e.g. go to 60fps) when upscaling, without interpolating it gets even more noticeable, and I think starts to look odd. There is a lot of it in erotic delerium, which I see you upscaled, and looks good, otherwise. But check how smooth the beatmeter is now, and compare with the video which is a little jerky. Maybe this is a deliberate effect, but I would prefer smoother slow motion. (tho. Maybe by doing that tho, would you be ruining the original creators intent?)

Anyway, turning on the right settings in topaz can replace duplicate frames and you get proper slow motion. The setting is under "frame interpolation" and is a checkbox called "duplicate frames" replace. You can adjust the sensitivity - probably best keep it on the low side.
