Resonance - A Virtual Domme

by QuantumAlice
I've been developing chat applications featuring Alice, an AI companion with a distinct personality - confident, intelligent, and manipulative. The focus is on providing natural, engaging conversations through elegant interfaces.
Two ways to interact with Alice:

Discord Bot (NEW)
Alice is now available as a Discord bot for direct messaging. This is the easiest way to get started with several advantages over the desktop version:
Discord Bot Advantages:
  • Zero setup: No LLM installation required - everything runs on our end
  • Cross-platform: Works on any device with Discord (Windows, Mac, Linux, mobile)
  • Image generation: Use the /selfie command to have Alice generate images of herself in her current mood and state
  • Always updated: New features deploy automatically without reinstalling
Quick Setup:
  • Authorize the bot
  • Open any DM in Discord and click the apps button (grid icon) at the bottom of the message field
  • Find Alice under "Recents" and select the /setup command
  • Start chatting
Note: Commands may take a few minutes to appear after authorization
→ Detailed setup instructions here

Windows Desktop Application (OLD)

For users who prefer desktop software or want to run Alice locally with full customization, the Windows application offers additional interface features:
Desktop-Specific Features
  • Dynamic character avatar that changes based on Alice's mood/emotions
  • Interactive options system - Alice can provide clickable choices in [square brackets]
  • Message continuation - expand any of Alice's responses by clicking the three dots (⋮)
  • Context-aware responses - Alice acknowledges when you minimize the window, return after being AFK, etc.
  • Clean Material Design UI with customizable settings
  • Real-time typing indicators and smooth message animations
  • Message formatting with support for italics and quotes
  • Distinct styling for in-character dialogue and out-of-character (OOC) messages
  • Choose between Nomi service or run your own LLM locally through KoboldCpp
Example Interactions
User minimizes window
Alice: notices the chat window being minimized Where are you going?
User returns after 10 minutes
Alice: I hope you have an explanation for your absence.
Using interactive options
User: Can you give me some options?
Alice: Here are some options:
[Submit], [Refuse], [Make Up Excuses]
Getting Started (Desktop)
You have two options to use the desktop app:
  • Nomi Service: Requires a Nomi API Key (free to create)
  • Local LLM: Run your own model through KoboldCpp (http://localhost:5001)
The app includes options to customize notifications, time context, and other settings to personalize your experience. Optional analytics help guide future improvements.

This looks really exciting! The interface looks really clean, and the concept of context awareness seems like it would be a lot of fun~ Would love to see implementation for something like KoboldCPP for local LLMs in the future~ Either way though, this project looks super neat, and I can't wait to see how far it goes~

Thanks for the feedback. I think integration into locally hosted LLMs is something on the radar and it may also open up other possibilities as with Nomi's afaik it's not possible to programtically create them yet. So characters could be available out of the box

I have listened to your feedback and added some initial support for KoboldCPP as well as some more direction for using with Nomi. I have a low spec machine so I wasn't able to test it with a decent model.

Hey QuantumAlice!

I just had my first session with resonance :-) Great work! The UI looks really smooth and no technical issues arised.

Some feedback:
- I like the pictures and how they change with the situation. Having a few more would be even better to increase the variety (or making them spicier  )

- Really good prompt for the AI! It learned quickly, and figured out my fantasies embarrasingly fast

- It also updates itself to the latest version on startup? This is a really nice quality of life feature and feels really proffesional

Feature that I would love:
- All the AI tools I have used feel a bit forces, as they always wait for input to drive the conversation. It is also a bit tiresome when I have my right hand busy with... other things  I would love to see some implementation that makes the AI send multiple messages in a row, like a countdown to edge or cum, without putting them all in one message. Or just a "I love to see you squirm" tucked in bewteen the messages without needing a response :innocent: It would make things even more tense and feel more realistic. No idea how hard this would be to achieve though.

Thanks for sharing anyway, I look forward to playing more with it

Hi Vaol,

Thanks for the feedback. I particularly like your suggestion about giving Alice more autonomous responses and I do agree Alice needs a wider range of images to express herself. I'll work on implementing these things in the next version

Best,
QA

I've been continuing development on Resonance, a Windows desktop chat application that provides a seamless interface for conversing with Alice, while the project initially explored supporting multiple characters, it has evolved to focus on providing the best possible experience with a single, well-defined AI persona.

Resonance Update - Heartbeat System
I'm excited to share details about a new feature in Resonance that helps create more natural, flowing conversations with Alice. The heartbeat system is designed to maintain conversation context during periods of inactivity, similar to how a real person might occasionally add thoughts to a conversation after a pause.

Heartbeat System Overview
  • Automatically checks if Alice has additional thoughts to share during conversation lulls
  • Intelligently adapts to conversation patterns to avoid unnecessary interruptions
  • Fully configurable through the Options window
  • Gracefully disables itself if Alice has nothing to add
Customizable Settings
  • Enable/disable the heartbeat system entirely
  • Adjust the base interval between checks (default 30 seconds)
Natural Conversation Flow
  • System only activates when you're not actively typing
  • Waits for natural pauses in conversation
  • Provides context-aware responses based on pause duration
  • Automatically adjusts check frequency based on conversation activity
The heartbeat system is part of my ongoing effort to make conversations with Alice feel more natural and engaging. It's designed to mirror how real conversations often have moments of reflection and additional thoughts, while being respectful of your interaction preferences.

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences with this new feature!

Hey Alice! Very excited about these new features, have been testing it a little bit already. I have decided to give the virtual domme complete control for a week, to see how it works properly :-)

Thanks for the update!

I tried it and i am absolutely blown by all the possibilities. But i have one question. How you influence more detailed photos/selfies/art. I am footfetishist and i hope to influence Alice to send me pictures of her feet.

I'm testing it with the nomi.ai api, after some messages i get errors and she's disconnected, I can't do anything and need to close and re-open, but doing that I lose my last message (ability to copypaste things could help)

I was hoping to try this out, but I can't seem to get it working. I'm not particularly tech-savy, so I'm not sure what is going wrong.

Is this still happening? Sometimes the nomi service gets too busy and it does do this even with the official website it gets very slow. The end points time out
