Hi Remmy,

If you look at the Welcome Thread, you can see that the site began in the summer of 2006.

viewtopic.php?t=8

From the About page: "Milovana is a free online community, dedicated to the safe, sane and consensual exploration of sexual technique and technology in fun and interactive ways. A safe haven for all denominations of human sexuality. Milovana is the Serbian word for mistress and is also used there as a first name. We first went online on July 21st, 2006 and officially celebrate our anniversary each year on the name day for "Milovana": July 18th."

There were other sites in the T&D community like orgasmdenial.com, webteases.com, and indecisivecaptions.com, but through the exhaustive work of the administrators, members, and contributors, Milovana has continued and thrived for almost twenty years now. I am sure some of the admin people could give a more detailed history of the site.

Seraph0x is the reason it's still going today. There's a lot of people who talk about making custom software like this, but very few that actually do, and even fewer who maintain it and and the community with such integrity over such a long time. Huge respect to him for keeping the lights on.

Haha I was speculating this about the origin of the name and did not even check the about page (would remove speculation even if the meaning mentioned there is not entirely correct, the word is more beautiful than american meaning of 'mistress')... thanks @odon

from chatgpt:
Slavic Origin

Name Derivation: Milovana may derive from the Slavic root "milo," meaning "graceful," "dear," or "beloved." It is related to names like Milovan or Milena, which are popular in South Slavic cultures.

Meaning: As a feminine form of Milovan, it could mean "the beloved one" or "one who is cared for."

From what I remember, it was created in part as a place to keep the web teases from orgasmdenial.com online.
Once it started having more of its own content however, the old teases were sadly taken offline.
