Please stop bumping old threads as it makes the front page hard to read and makes new content hard to find.
If you have something new to say then feel free to start a new thread with a clear title so people can tell what it is and it doesn't disrupt the front page.
Thanks.

To me this is a creators forum rather than a normal discussion one, so I'm not sure the usual rules against necro apply. Almost all threads are started by someone who has made a CH and then the discussion about it.
For example creators only get notified when you reply to their thread, starting a new one to say thankyou (or can you reupload this) would likely result in the message not getting to them. Which means a new thread wouldn't work, unless you want to talk about a CH without the creator knowing.
Personally I skim the recent posts on the forum but paying attention to the date the thread was created so I can skim past threads on old CH (when I'm looking for something new).

yeah i don't think this message will ultimately do anything. Most of the necromancy i see are from people who rarely, if ever, use the forum and decide they want to post 9 million reviews to everything that happend since the last time....
Or they are brand new and doing the same thing.
Or begging for a followup... :)
In any case, they are almost certain not to read this post asking them not to do that... so... oh well.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate user Guilherme_1988 for being a model citizen of Milovana, and for taking the time to write and post his reviews in [release] threads. While I cherish and appreciate each and every shadowy anonymous lurker who will view my videos without ever commenting, I live for the day when a conscientious and dedicated user comes back to post his review of my movie in my ten year-old release thread.
Don't let anybody stop you Guilherme_1988. I believe in your mission and I believe in you. "That is not dead which can eternal lie."

I just pointed that out because it was such a flood. But honestly, what he's doing is what this forum is for. There's nothing wrong with what he did, and I think creators do enjoy this kind of feedback for their work even if it is years since they released the project.

Yep.
Also, even as a third person, I think its interesting to read a person's reaction on a video that was made a decade ago. Sometimes you might even discover a gem you hadn't originally noticed.

I think that's fine, what we need is an option to sort topics by creation date.

I agree.

Imo the only understandable reason to frown on thread necroing, would be if the topic was outdated somehow. But if it's the only thread containing access to a certain creation, the old thread is very much valid and complaining about necroing in the case is just arguing for the sake of the argument.
Sure, I like to gatekeep these forums against commerciality too, so I'm not completely innocent in letting people use this place as they want, but this time I don't agree with the OP

Long(ish) time lurker here. While necro'd threads may be misleading, Ive adapted by skimming through the topic list by "create date". I specifically created my account so I could chime in at the appropriate time and say "thanks". I think what he's doing is honorable, and hope he can summon the strength to keep it up (is that really a dou^H^H^Htriple entendre in a thread about necromancy?! ).

is there an option to display threads by creation date as opposed to last replied date? That would make it a bit easier to sort the wheat from the chaff

I feel you, it's not so funny revive old threads, but you know, you have to deal with it, past creators can always find good hint for new creations from newer comments, so you could do as I usually do: just look at the date of the first post of the topic, if we are in september 2021 and you see january, man, that is a old topic so just skip it.

Had some tests with the advanced search settings. Try it.
