Why phone playback is faster than computer?

Why is it my phone does media playback faster than my computer?

From many of the files/torrents posted here (thank you all for the generous sharing), I get the combination of a base video file and the estim MP3 that is made to go with it.

I set up for estim with the PC playing the MP3 file, because that sound system has enough juice to run the estim box. And play the video on the phone. So I can watch/listen to the original media file and not corrupt estim audio going to the estim box.

But after 30 minutes of playback, the video on the phone is way ahead of the sound file playback on the PC. By a matter of minutes.

I wonder why. :-/ And I wonder what to do differently so they would maintain sync. Thank you for any insights.

I don't know why that happens (maybe a problem with the stream you are playing, network issues or something) but the solution is quite easy (and cheap): get a usb soundcard for your pc and use a tool like VLSync that constantly syncs the position of both files.

Since you are playing on your phone, maybe the sound tracks and the estim track do not have the same encoding/bitrate. If so, it should be easy to fix with a tool like ffmpeg. I'm not sure about HandBrake because I always used the default sound encoding it offers.
