Here are my 2 cents:

I prefer the beat format at the bottom instead of the sides; keeping an eye on 2 lines on the sides kinda distract me from the rest. Secondly if this is the first round as you state the tempo is extremely high in some parts without a cause. That might be since you are beta testing this but please take this into consideration.

I haven't check your round yet, but about stroke speed, yes, I agree that there need to be some progression. A question to ask yourself is: "Will the first round work from a cold start?" Of course, you can vary the intensity during the game if you want to calm the player down, but starting fast may be an impossible task for many.
