A warning for all tease creators;

There have been times in the past where malicious people have manipulated the ratings system.
For a free website with free content, this is just laughable, but it has happened.

I'm looking at the high quality teases created over that last few days, instantly being tanked, and I suspect it's happening again...

The site admins tend to spot this when it happens, so please don't get disheartened.

I saw several very good teases drop there ratings.
Your´s is really exceptional, please don´t take these idiots to heart.
I even saw that some guy took his name of a very good tease ...

This definitely cannot be true: 759 views and 806 votes.
I think one problem is, that one can vote without beeing logged in. So you can vote several times...
That's stupid and should be changed!

Your tease has a ton of content! And I am also surprised with your low rating.

Just a suggestion, I find myself waiting a lot for the timer to catch up for simple instructions that don't take any time. It may be good for really slow readers, but for myself (no speed reader) I find myself bored.

I stumbled into the extreme punishment, but now I can't find it anymore. How do I get into that section of the tease?

I haven't done your tease yet, because I just didn't have the time for something monumental like that, but I am looking forward to that. I love teases that have some complexity and that can be explored for a while, and there haven't been that many recently.

I also think, the rating system is under attack now. It is very clear some teases just have been rapidly voted down and that is not something that usually happens.

With regard to the timing: I would try to avoid timers for actions were you do not want to force a certain time. If you want the reader to wait, something like "kneel with your eyes closed until you hear a ring tone" or "hold the edge" or whatever, timers can be as short or long as you want to. If you want the reader to kneel in a corner for 20 minutes because it fits into your story, fine.

What I find hugely annoying, if I have to wait for no reason. Like text is progressing too slow or I have to do something, edge, stroke a certain amount, fetch something and then have to wait an other minute just because the timer is longer than what the author expected I would need. In such cases just place a button or use text messages than can be clicked to move on.

If you want to frustrate the reader, cause that's what you like, that's great. But make the reader feel like you are doing it on purpose.

As I said, I haven't actually played the tease yet. I just wanted to point that out, as I observed that many authors do get that wrong.

(Also, complex or challenging teases do not always get the highest rating. Well made teases with hot pictures and a rather straight forward approach get high ratings, and certain fetishes (hentai apparently, and bbc). So do not give too much of a shit about it. Everything above a 3-3.5 is a decent rating and your 2.x is probably just some loser attacking the ratings).

i was checking your tease to see if there was any update and saw the 2.1, some ppl are bored i guess, yours is one of the best tease over here so dont mind about the jerks. Im having so much fun, and the new ¨bots¨ are great =) .

every single new teases from this week have been getting the same treatment.

Your tease has been top of the charts for weeks now so you have received validation from real fans.
In my opinion, this is the best tease ever (and I've been here a while!)

There was obvious rating manipulation on this tease. The malicious votes have been removed giving a new average rating of 4.7

We'll keep an eye out in case it happens again.

Surely this wasn't an isolated case? There have been several teases from the past weeks published by established authors who are nearly always very highly rated (4*+) who have been rating-bombed to 2* or less. Fibonacci and HellaLittyBroPoggers to name a couple.

Happy to investigate those, too. Just need the tease IDs.

Edit: Found the one from HellaLittyBroPoggers. Restored the rating, it is now 4.33. I also restored the rating for Pornstemon by [unknown] which is 4.0. I checked "Naruto's Secretary" for manipulation but could not detect any. Please lmk if there are any other teases with suspect ratings.

Edit 2: I've disabled rating by anonymous users for the time being.

I believe this was fibonnaci's tease that was also review-bombed, although on the face of things it has been deleted or inactivated.

That's a help, but I believe there are users that have multiple accounts they use for manipulating TOTM votes -- and that'll likely roll over to the tease ratings now that it's locked to accounts only.

Perhaps requiring a short review along with the rating would help? Certainly would help authors get feedback on why their tease is getting lower ratings.

Also, if the rating was made from an account, it would be nice to allow the user to change their rating. (After a bug in a tease is fixed, etc.)
