Hi guys! I have a simple question for you: what instructions aside from stroking pace and reaching edge do you like in videos with stroking instructions, regardless of subgenre (JOI, CH, RLGL)? And which of those do you actually follow?

I made a small poll and I guess that the 4th option I called "specific instructions" is the broadest and most problematic one. I think there is a difference between instructions that just refer to penis and balls and those that refer to something more (more strictly speaking, ask you to do something specific outside of a simple masturbation act). I'd love if you could tell something more about it (how do you like to be instructed, what makes a good/bad instruction).

In my videos (especially RLGL) I like to use more instructions than just stop and go, but I saw a comment that one of those instructions might be unnecessary. I started wondering if there are some instructions that might be counter-effective. I would like to avoid such issues in my future projects.

I would put myself somewhere around 3/4 type - I like when a JOI is not just a "oh, here you are, stroke and cum for me" type, but I rarely follow the instructions that'd influence my regular sexual routine (even though they are often included in JOIs of excellent quality, like Princess Miki's or Eva de Vil's videos).

I feel the same way. I hate intox instructions but breath holding is interesting to me. CEI and prostate play I can be in the mood for, but begging out loud and CBT are of no interest to me at all. It's hard for me to decide how to check these boxes.

The good news is, just plain stroking and edging is all I need in a video.

In the later categories, I think it very much depends what the instruction is. In my case CEI is a turn-off and I have zero desire to slap my own balls, but I don't mind massaging my prostate (as long as I'm prepared for it). Similarly breath-play and begging do nothing for me, but I do enjoy poppers from time to time. I'm not sure how valuable this poll will be without more specific answers.

In general I think it's best if videos keep it simple so they appeal to as many people as possible. Those of us with kinks can always find ways to include them, but having the wrong kinks included is always a bad thing.

If you are going to include kinks then I'd make the indicator as subtle as possible so that it can be easily ignored/altered in play. A video that says at the start "torture your balls every time the light turns purple" is enjoyable by most people where as one that flashes variations on "PUNCH YOURSELF IN THE NUTS" across the screen at regular intervals is going to put a lot of people off. The subtle indicators have the advantage of being easy to re-use for other kinks too. If you decide that purple light means "massage your prostate" rather than pain, then you're free to do so.

The other option would be to produce two versions of a video - one with very specific instructions overlaid on it and another with them stripped out. The underlying video and beats/times could be the same, it would only be the text that needed to change but I'm not sure how much extra work this would be.

Yeah, there's definitely things in the special instructions category that I appreciate and that actually add something (such as breathplay), and things that I'm going to ignore (speaking out loud, most of the teasing instructions), and even some things that take away enough for me that I might turn off the video (such as focusing on a fetish that I'm really not into). The problem is that everyone's going to have different takes on each of those instructions, and video as a format doesn't really give you a lot of ways to make the experience customizable to people's tastes. Contrast that with many of the recent well-received webteases, where the trend is to use settings at the beginning to turn on options like denial, CBT, anal, etc.

There have been a few recent attempts on video that have used a "perks" or "character classes" sort of system, which have add-on instructions to follow for the players that have chosen those perks. I imagine this is also how many people adjust video plays to suit their kinks (e.g. house rules like "stroke doubletime when feet are on screen"). I think this is a really promising approach, and I'd like to see some of the higher-tier videos experiment with this a bit more. There are a couple of limitations, though. First, there's really only so much screen space you have available in a video, which limits the number of classes you can include. Some experimental CHs have tried putting these sorts of rules in a listing outside the video itself, but I've never felt that this was a particularly good solution. Nobody wants to have to distract themselves from the video to reference a rule sheet or struggle to remember everything. It's much more immersive for the instructions to just appear in the video. Secondly, instructions matching a given kink are hard to write for people not into that kink (e.g. I'd have no idea how to write good CBT instructions), so if you want to appeal to a wide range of interests, you need to solicit help from a bunch of people to help write your modifiers.

The basic advice I'd offer if you're sticking to the pure video format is, write what you like. There's no reason to believe that the interests of the video-maker demographic will be wildly different from the interests of the video-watchers, so on average we should end up with content that's roughly in-balance with how many people are into it.

If you don't have enough money for weed you should buy a weed vape pen. Not crazy expensive and lasts at least a week if you are hitting it heavy and hard. That way you don't need to load a bowl every time she asks you to take a hit. Just hit the button and take a drag.

Thanks for the tip and I do vape already so have like 10 devices but it's just it's so rare here in Finland haven't ever heard or seen anyone using it for weed and also all things even buying atomizers from the web instead of going to a local shop is illegal too :( And thats just for normal vaping can't mail order even a string of metal and cotton(atomizer). Anyhow gonna keep that in mind that might work if I get my hands on such things.

Many weed vaporizers allow you to use pot (preferably grinded) without any extra requirements. There are even small metal devices that go without any electronics, you just need a good torch lighter. They are more similar to IQOS then vaping, as you just heat the pot enough to release important scents and not to burn it (and produce any tar). They aren't cheap, but after some time they become really an economic choice.

I'm at 2 plus some aspects of 4 -- hold-your-breath, f.e. -- so it's a bit of a mixed-up survey for me, can't answer 3 or 4 because there are things in there that are more complex or invasive of "reality" than I generally want, but don't want to answer 2 because it leaves out a lot of things that I practically require, so, ya know, I answered and fudged it, and I hope you know that most of us are fudging it somehow, so, take results and fudge them, but thanks for the thread and the survey anyway!

Absolutely, text prompts should be small and they must not steal your attention from the content, I think that goes without saying.

From the editor's perspective is just a matter of rendering a new file with one of the tracks muted, so easy-peasy. I don't think there is much need for this kind of an alternative version, unless there are people who really can get turned off by some text prompts

I had a similar idea previously when I thought about CH-RLGL conversions. Now I believe it's hardly worth the effort. Making a CH takes a significant amount of time, while RLGL (or any other kind of instruction-based video) is much easier to make. By the time I'm finishing a new video I tend to be rather tired with adjusting the content and the beats/prompts, so it would require more work.
