I just spent 2 1/2 hours working on a post, tried to preview it and the stupid log-in screen comes up and after I logged in it was all lost. Very disappointing.

There are really many solutions for your problem..
- write that long entries in another program, and copy the complete post
- use the "stay logged in" feature, should avoid the login screen coming up after doing nothing some hours.
- use opera

(going back a page will restore page from cache, including your post ;))
But don't blame the board system for that, as webmaster you should know it's necessary to log out idle users ;)

I often select the text I wrote and copy (ctrl+c) it before pressing the preview or submit button. If the preview goes wrong and I have to log in again, the text I wrote is just a shortcut (ctrl+v) away.
I do have to type the subject again though. (unless it is a reply on a post or pm)
Not having much to say will probably be helpfull as well...

Or Firefox. In Firefox 3 it even restores your post if your entire computer crashes.
And another solution, one that you don't have to plan for in advance: When you run into the problem, stop, don't panic. Open another browser window, log in there. Close it and go back to your original window (error message should still be there) and hit F5. It should ask you whether you'd like to 'resubmit the data' or something to that effect. Say 'Yes' and your post should be submitted.
The easiest way though as SomeOne suggested, is to use the "stay logged in" feature and make sure it works. Once you've set that up, you should stay logged in for weeks or months.

The first time I read:

And I thought to myself:
FireFox4 / IE8 / GoogleChrome,... Those darn new webbrowser get too many features!!!
