Webteases: minimalistic or lavish

a query.
tldr: Should web teases be lavish or minimalistic?
Should a web tease have a zillion instructions, wordy with more rules and subclauses than a D&D 3rd edition rulebook?
- Keeps it nerdy and fun, but I believe a lot of people actually skip through the rules, myself included. Especially when the end goal is to be sexually satisfied/frustrated, both of which states reduce blood flow to the brain. Thus making the rules essentially redundant.
Should a web tease have fewer instructions, potentially robbing the player of narrative and possible playstyles?
- Keeps it crisper, gives just the right amount of satisfaction/frustration to keep it interesting, without marring the experience in mental arithmetic and keeping tabs on stats...
Is it possible to strike a balance by outsourcing the rules to the EOS software?

Interesting question, this is something I've been asking myself too.
I've created both types of games before and gotten different responses.
Personally, what I've gathered from the feedback is that longer, story based teases are more engaging and thus create a better experience overall. However, as you mentioned, there are people who don't care for a story and just want to get the instructions. That's why it's important to give the player the option to play the game more quickly, for example by making the dialogue skippable. That's also the reason why I'm not a fan of teases with unskippable text and overly long timers.
What I also don't like are games which need you to pay attention and take care of anything not related to masturbation. EOS is a wonderful tool to keep track of points, throw dice and do many other complicated task which the player shouldn't have to worry about. The player wants to have a sexual experience, not a logistical one. Let EOS worry about that stuff.
You also mention rules, which is an interesting question as well. I think when it comes to the explanation of a game's rules, you always have to keep your target audience in mind. For example, my teases are fairly vanilla and are targeted at rather unexperienced players who might have never played an instruction game before. Because of that I need to have longer rulebooks which explain everything the player might need to now. Whenever I kept the rules as short as possible, I received many messages asking me what an "edge" is or other similar questions about things I assumed everyone knew.
If you're unsure how experienced your audience is, it's better to explain everything thoroughly. Anyone who doesn't need the rules can simply skip them.
TL;DR: Longer games tend to create a better, more memorable experience but you need be careful not to bore those people who are only looking for quick instructions.

I don't think there's a "correct" balance - minimalist and elaborate teases each have their place, with a different appeal to different people in different moods. It's just a matter of preference.

This is a good thread! I am also currently working on my first tease.
I've decided to go without any story and get pretty much right to the instructions. However, that doesn't mean there is little text. To me it's important to also stimulate the mind. So, I'm trying to be talkative while tasks are being carried out to hopefully get people's imagination going. Things like ideas about interesting/sexy scenarious, what-if-questions, rhetorical questions about their state of arousal. Maybe an attempt at a joke or two.
That's the goal at least. I'm really unsure if what I'm coming up with is any good or if it's even too much.
Otherwise I agree with previous answers that it depends on the persons current mood and interests.
I'm glad there are both nerdy and immersive teases, even though that usually isn't what I'm looking for.
Edit: I wanted to add: I don't think EOS has to take care of everything. For example, I like mapping out mazes with a pen. Maybe some people like to use a real deck of cards or real dice. Most people would probably agree, though, that keeping track of points yourself isn't any fun and best left to EOS.

I think the instruction should be clearly visible compared to the other text. If it is simple stroking instruction, it doesn't need to be detailed. If it is a bondage instruction, it should be more detailed as more people on the site are probably newer to the concepts than simply stroking. Overall, detail is good. You want people thinking about their genitals and state of arousal.

I agree, but I think Milovana should have a place where people can post links to online deck generators or online dice generators, or tease creators post links to them on their teases. I tend to misplace my deck of cards by the time the next card-based webtease gets released.
