Im making a Cock Hero video.
But i need some help!

I'll start with some questions about what you personally would love to see if this Cock Hero was made for you!
And a bit further down i'll have some technical questions for all the fantastic creators out there! Editing etc!

Personally, I like Cock Heros that attempt to figure out what the viewer is "thing" is by using different kinds of material and spinning dirty content off it. I like ones that start off trying to "eliminate" the weak with softer content and building up to harder (not essentially hardcore) content. I also love story driven ones that make it more of a game I wan't to play and win. Ones with different levels of difficulty for you to try like different stoke styles or stroking during breaks are fun to. Vindicare, Andyp, Tittyluvr1334, StarKiz, Xity, m4dm4x to name a few creators fitting what I said above.

I prefer the beat bar. If I want to focus on the video I simply ignore it. But it subconsciously helps me stay on track with the beats and prepare for incoming ones by seeing it move with my peripheral vision.

I find it better to have beats that match the beat or tempo of the music selected. I feel more into it when I'm not trying to focus on matching whatever the difference is between the beat bar and the music beats. Slower music for rounds with slower beats and faster music for rounds with faster beats. It's the general trend I see in most Cock Heros anyway. But some don't like m4dm4x's recent videos Casino Royale and Battle Royale

My opinion is the longer the better when it has a story line or goal to follow. If you're going to do a simple last as long as you can one then it doesn't matter, you just make it continuously get harder until you cant anymore and that's how long it is. If it is story based then I really like the long ones because I usually don't make it through the first time so I can come back to finish the story again later. Sometimes even 3 or 4 times until I finish it. It adds a sense of replayability to it. Ones that have a goal of not cumming until the last round or going through different stages of material I feel the same way about. I come back to finish them later if I don't the first time due to that incentive.

The thing is that if there was a voiceover some would find the voice really attractive while others would not. Which would make the text a better choice for the majority. I'd love to hear your thoughts on this!

I think the help text (angel) is about a 5/10 for me. But the naughty text that tries to get you to fail (devil) is definitely a 10/10 for me. Those ones are my favorite, if you haven't gathered from the creators I listed above. Not a lot of them actually tell you to cum or try to get it to happen. Most of them, the few that have text anyway, just leave it at teasing. That's okay, but I prefer the ones that go all the way and try to make it happen. More often then not it works and I'll lose or get close enough losing that it sets me up for failure on the next round. Then I have to come back later and try to finish it which is why I like it. The ones that are just videos and beats are boring to me and I don't see replay value in like ones with story or text.

I haven't played any with voice over other then PrimeSwitch's Cock Heros, I really liked that feature. But it didn't focus on trying to make you lose... I think if you did a voice over with two girls though, one trying to help you last (angel) and one to make you lose (devil), It would be a really good idea. A lot of the content here kinda steamed from JOI. So taking that aspect of it and combining it into a Cock Hero would be very interesting and I'd like to see it.

Sorry I don't have one off the top of my head I could name. Playing all these Cock Heros over the years I just don't remember anymore. But to describe my ideal endings, I like the ones that go all out at the end trying to make you lose before the real end. Either by a fake countdown or crazy teasing. At the very end when you're supposed to cum I do like the countdown ones. I find it hard to cum on the release anytime ones because I want to see the ending lol.

As you may have gathered from my above replies I prefer ones that continuously get harder. But endurance rounds are nice. I like the ones that include content in the breaks and give you the option to stoke during them. So endurance rounds remind me of really long breaks. But ones that keep the content to light lose me. If I'm stroking slowly and its to soft core then I get soft and actually have to go faster then the beat bar just to stay hard. That's subjective though and I doubt everyone has that problem.

Interesting topic. It has been inquired and discussed in the past. The short answer is: you can ask 10 people on here what they like best, and get 15 different answers. Interest, choice, preference etc is all subjective and personal.

My philosophy with the Inferno series has been to make what "I" prefer. My suggestions/advice to you - is do something that really interests you and that you enjoy. You can cater it a little - but ultimately you have to enjoy what you're doing. You can't please everybody all the time.

The rest is just objective technique and skill level with doing them. That you'll just learn and adjust over time as you do them.

If I had to choose one preferred style that works for me better than others - it's the tease and taunting of forbidden fruit or working towards something you want like in Fantasy, Inferno, Blue Magic, Deadly Sins, and a recent one w/ Kenna James though I cannot remember the name of it. Hardcore is fine too but prefer sexy sensual and erotic stuff; classier stuff like Babes or Vixen.

Things I do not like: I'm not into super raunchy fetishes like pissing, gaping, torture, BBC, or really super hard raunchy stuff like in PornFidelity stuff. And I can't play CHs or PMVs with male singing rap music. It is the opposite of arousing and I turn off or skip any video where some dude starts yelling and rapping in my ears.

Well I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one around here with those view! I saw Tittyluvr1334 input and I agree with him as well. Love his Inferno series.

To elaborate on the angel and devil text. When I start a Cock Hero I'm going at it with winning in mind. So naturally a 3rd party cheering me on to do what I'm already there to do does effect me to the same degree as someone trying to steer me away with temptation/seduction. I guess a shitty example of this was if I was in a bicycle race and had someone riding beside me cheering me on. But, I saw one person stating next to a path none of the other riders went down and they caught my attention saying "hey, go this way! I promise it's worth it. It's not cheating and you'll win for sure! Just trust me, go down that path and you're sure to win..." That's just a lot more of an attention grabber for me.

Now a way to change that would be to make them interact with each other. Some of the Cock Heros do this a little. When they are aware of each others existence and fight over you changing the beats, content, and length of the rounds as they attempt to get what they each want. The angel wants you to win, the devil wants you to lose. So they fight over over making you choose who to side with. There's a few ways to go about how that would play out in a video. If you want to play around with that idea more I can go into more detail about it. But that's my two cents.

Like Tittyluvr1334 said, you will get many different opinions varying widely. Just go with your gut and in the end there'll always be folks like enjoy it.

As for other suggestions, not sure what all you have, is there a story to this Cock Hero? Is there a theme? But I can suggest other things NOT to do. If you are making a beat meter in your Cock Hero make sure the beat sounds actually line up with the meter and never start a round with the beats already hitting the center of the meter. The player should see them coming from the side of the screen before it is actually time to fap. Also be sure the beat sound can clearly be heard over the music. I have watched many Cock Heroes where the music just drowns out the beat sounds. Make sure that all text is in a font that is not hard to read and has a black outline around it so it doesn't blend into the background and it's on the screen long enough to read it. I have seen many Cock Heroes where there is a lot of text but it is only shown for about half a sec. I think a good "rule of thumb" as they say is to have the text on screen long enough for you to read it out loud 3 times.. And make sure you don't make the beats to complex. I have seen many where the beats go 5-3-7 or some other overly complex pattern of beats and people are just like "What the Fuck!? I thought this was Cock Hero, not Guitar Hero on Expert difficulty!"

I'm sure if you can avoid making the mistake that many others have made like those ones I pointed out you can make a good Cock Hero.

As others have said, do what you want to see. What I personally would love to see can be found in the project's I've done or collaborated on...it's so personal, and such a phenomenal amount of work that you are best off to make it exactly what you like, what you want. You will have times you want to give up, don't have time to work on it but want to, etc, etc, etc. You need to personally love that it's your work, for you, to help see you through.

If you need help, get stuck, need some ideas, etc, every creator that is still around is incredibly helpful...just ask for help and provide specifics.

One of my all time favorites is Gern Blanston's Cock Hero With Pleasure 2:

Because:
1) Perfect music choices
2) Perfectly synced beats, synced to the video (bonus points to any editor that syncs the video to the beats)
3) Great content that has continuity between shots (it was made from a single DVD by the same studio and producer so flows between girls brilliantly).
4) the beats are clear, aligned to the music and the sequences are thoughtfully timed. The lack of beat bar doesn't diminish the effectiveness of the beats.

The ending is a let down compared to the rest of the video, but it showcases some really great editing and overall composition.

I also like ADSR because it's really simple, about the right duration, and took me about a week to put together. As was noted in a review, I would re-do the reward round and tighten it up a bit, but otherwise was fun to make and I still enjoy it.

Champions of Cocknia is a timeless classic.

I love the music and overall mood of Cock Hero Spectrum. There's some game changing editing and mood in there, despite a poorly done beat bar.

There are some scenes in Dance Party that are really fun and well done. Some great content and song choices.

And of course the Inferno Series.

Don't hit me, but I'm not a fan of the Island series (to provide some preference context).

I really like some of the new UI elements that are being used. For example, the circle in Earn Your Release:

Both are well done IMO. I think the ideal would be a well executed combination of the three, depending on the desired effect (buildup, challenge, freestyle/edging, etc).

But if you're going to implement any of these, do it well or stick to making a PMV and do that well. The vast majority of CH videos are a let down because of bad syncing, poor music choices, poor beat sequences (too fast, too random, not following the underlying music theory of the songs they attempt to sync to, etc) or beats that flow across the screen, hit the stroke point and nothing happens. There should be a visual que (flash, bulging dot, etc) when a stroke is indicated. Without any of this, IMO, don't bother with a beat meter (With Pleasure 2 didn't need one). Small finishing touches make a huge difference, and at the same time don't take it too far with too many effects or it's distracting.

I don't like stupid fast beats. I also don't like beats that don't align to the music. Slow music, slow beats, fast song, faster beasts, but beats should follow music timing, not some seemingly random pattern that has nothing to do with the music (if it's intentionally out of sync then it's not a Cock Hero video and that's cool too...just is what it is, or rather isn't what it isn't).

Not necessarily. It could be fun to have a 30 minute "Edging Challenge" video that does a lot of teasing and build up, then sets you on your way. Or a 45-60 full package that gives you an entire experience. Both can be great if the overall video is well done.

Motion - special effects
Adobe After Effects - Beat bar
Hydrogen - beats
Handbrake - video compression

I've been working with this script lately: http://www.milovana.com/forum/viewtopic ... 5&;t=19984 It's a script that goes with Adobe After Effects, uses the same beat audio that I generate now, but instead of the waveform beat bar creates one that is dots that scroll across the screen (much cleaner look). Here's my basic workflow: I do my editing in Final Cut Pro (but use whatever works best for you). For generating beat audio, I have a collection of beat audio files at different tempos and patterns (e.g. 123-123 at 72BPM or 12345-6 at 120BPM) that I've created over time for different songs and beat patterns. I drag those into Final Cut Pro and align them (painstakingly...don't have misaligned beats). You can usually see the beats in songs and can line up the beat audio fairly easily. Once the beat audio is aligned to the songs, I export the beat audio only and load it into Adobe After Effects. I used to create the audio wave forms feature built into Adobe After Effects (all my beat meters in Rhythm, ADSR and Inferno Canto 2 are done this way...and I did beats for Cock Hero Dance Party this way as well).

Some final thoughts.

If you haven't done video editing before, experiment with some tools until you find something that fits for you and just works. Doesn't need to be fancy, just needs to work for you. Set a small goal and start today. Jump in. Start with a 3-5 minute 'short', with a theme, and build around that theme to make it a fully cohesive, but short, project. Choose a song and make a PMV, then add a beat bar, instruction text, etc. Learn and master each tool as you go. Then you'll get a sense of the time and effort investment needed. Don't plan to release it to the public, it's just your sandbox to play and learn in. And don't shoot for some unachievable goal you'll never realize. You have to have fun, and have the time to get it done. If you shoot for something too complicated (especially for a first video) it will likely never be realized.

If you meant to link to the Beatmeter Generator, for some reason the link doesn’t work, so I’ll try again here: Beatmeter Generator. Anyway, I used it to build the beats for my first CH, and I’m almost done with my second, and it’s really a fantastic tool. What is probably most useful about it is that you can have the program autodetect the BPM, then position that bar to the beat, and then all the beats you put down will snap to it. It makes it super easy to keep your beats matching the music perfectly. You can define your own beat patters, single beats or use some preconfigured ones. It’s got a few minor quirks, but it really makes the beat making process way simpler. It exports both the sound and the graphics to formats that are easy to import into your editing tool, and you can configure just about everything you might need, like beat appearance, colors, beat sound, etc. I’ve found it invaluable, at least. :)

Anyway, I used it to build the beats for my first CH, and I’m almost done with my second, and it’s really a fantastic tool. What is probably most useful about it is that you can have the program autodetect the BPM, then position that bar to the beat, and then all the beats you put down will snap to it. A few tips I have:

- Don't expect to make a masterpiece on your first-go. Video editing is a lot like writing a novel, composing a song, etc. You build skills as you go, and it's a natural development where you grow as an editor. Have fun with it!

- Make what you truly want to make. I've told numerous people in this forum, "Make what you want to see in the world" and that holds true for this. So many different people like different things, some of them are complete opposites. Be true to yourself and make what you feel is right! This is, after all, YOUR project!

Editing Software
What editing sofware do you use to edit? Adobe? Sony? etc. And which software do you use for what? Beatbar, music, video etc.

How do you personally go about downloading all the videos? And do you sort them in any specific way which would make it more efficient in the creating process? Any tips/info is very helpful!

I use Final Cut Pro X for the core of my video-editing. I travel a lot, so I do a lot of work on my MacBook Pro (I had a 2012 model, which I used to make Prime Fitness and Prime University, but it really got laggy after awhile). Unless you have a rugged machine with a solid state drive, I highly advise against this. My harddrive crashed midway through Prime University and again at the start of Prime World. I transitioned to a 2017 MacBook Pro (with a SSD) midway through making Prime World, and it's been working smoothly ever since.

For my most recent release, Prime Game, I started using Apple Motion 5 to create some of the animations from scratch. I wanted to create a 3D object that can move seamlessly and rotate throughout the screen, and that was the main software I used for the project. The other visual assets (moving beats, sparks, etc.), I animated frame-by-frame in an image editor and in Final Cut Pro X, since I wanted to do some weird shit with it.

In my latest four releases, I use GarageBand to create beats for the songs I use. If you have a basic grasp of music, this is pretty easy to do. If not, going on YouTube and learning about the program you're using, plus the fundamentals of bpm and measures, is a good way to start.

I pay for a lot of the porn I use. I also just have access to a massive library, so that helps a lot. Collecting source content is probably the most time-consuming part of a Cock Hero (for me). I'll have separate folders for each round in my newest project and add to them as I collect. As I download clips, I'll also storyboard how I want a certain round to go (in my head), since my projects tend to have a lot of story and structure. Storyboarding streamlines the content I download so I don't have 100's of gigs of videos I don't end up using (I'll eventually have a folder marked Unused for videos I downloaded and don't end up in the project. It typically ends up being 100ish gigs in the end). It also makes the video-editing itself go way faster since I know what I want to happen in the round at particular parts of the music.
