Cock Hero Music Composing Hints and Tips Needed!

Post by Perfect11 »

Hello everyone! Are there any musicians here? In my workflow to create a Cock Hero production (and also for other personal projects), I would like to pick any song that I like, and create an original music track based on it. For example, I could generate/play the melody of the song myself, then add the Cock Hero stroke beat sounds to it. Voilà! No beat interference from the original song because I didn't even use it.

I got myself a Yamaha synthesizer. Only two outputs are available. Either the sound that I play (that I store in a .WAV file), or the USB-MIDI codes that only lists the notes and their duration but no sound at all. The problem is that I'm not a piano player. My notes are not spaced consistently and don't always have the right strength and duration. Music is really an art in itself.

Here's an example of what I did in this Blast from the Past PMV featuring Laure Sainclair here:

It's only the first few flute-piano notes in the intro, not the spectacular music mix afterward.

So, what I'm looking for is an easy to use music editor software under Linux. If your suggestion is for Mac or Windows, I will try to find the equivalent for Linux. It should support lots of different instruments. Notes could be entered at the computer keyboard, bonus if it accepts MIDI input. For the editing phase, notes frequency+strength+duration need to be easily adjustable, and the pause between them easily adjustable as well. Then, I must be able to pick a selection of notes, and have them repeated a specified number of times. Add to that other virtual tracks, so it can generate one kick-ass Cock Hero sound track. There it is, my ideal music editor software.

I tried a few things already, but software that works really well under Linux are rare. The best I can do at this time is mix multiple .WAV files using Blender in their Video Sequence Editor. That's what I did with my first PMV.

For your suggestions, please be specific about the software features, what it supports and what it doesn't support from the above desired features, and your experience with it. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.
