Yes, dogfood may make you sick, dogs eat "anything". With catfood, risks are minored 'cause cats would not eat something that would make them sick.
Anyway, I don't think you should do one or other regularly. To save money just eat pasta, rice, bread, etc...and if you want to make it punishing, simply cook it to tastes you dislike.

Don't know about the US but in Europe, petfood is more controlled than food that humans get. It won't make you sick here, probably just tastes horribly tho.

Just eat American ramen. It costs $0.10 per package, and not really worth the price. It's very unhealthy though. Nothing dangerous, but the flavoring is literally pure fat, so you'll be eating nothing but carbs and fat with no nutrients. A common college student diet.

If you want something healthy, cook food that has a lot of sardines (if you don't like extreme salty flavors) or chili peppers (if you can't handle spicy either). Could even jizz in it too (although many people on Milovana are used to the taste of their own cum). Limburger cheese for the smell (although the taste is pretty good if I remember). Just experiment with ingredients that you wouldn't normally dare to use.

You could do a "Mark Watney" and eat nothing but potatoes and vitamins. They, too, are cheaper than dog food.
