Latest spam activity

Hello,

Can somebody do something with all the spam recently?

These russian and spanish spam bots not only create new threads, but also spam already existing threads with all that "cheap whatever they sell". I posted a bug report in one of TEASE AI personality threads and 5 minutes later, spam bot posted 3 identical messages one after another below my post. I can't even keep up with reporting them.

I don't log in every day and going through all this spam of threads and posts is unbearable. If administrators and moderators can't deal with the problem, maybe implement some kind of system preventing bots from spamming?

And sorry fot his thread, I just had to vent my anger. :-/

Maybe an idea would be to kinda do a vote report.
Like you can report a post and then the community can vote whether its a spam or not. Then it wont take up too much time for the mods

Not a bad idea.

Please be patient. This isn't a new issue, it's been ongoing for about four or five weeks now, but Easter is a busy time and I haven't been able to come online as much as I would have liked the last few days, and since I'm the only one who seems to be dealing with the spam at the moment that means that it has built up a bit.

Thanks for reporting the posts, the best we can do it delete them as soon as we can, there's no eta on any kind of system upgrade or anything like that. If you see the same spammer posting over and over don't worry about having to report every single post either, just report one of their posts and I will usually deal with the rest.

It's very frustrating for us all, but I'm afraid it is what it is at the moment.

You should all understand, that to solve this problem you would need to make alterations in the forum engine itself. Or at least in the settings.
But you should also understand that this site does not have people who currently have the ability to and can spare time on this. We have mods. They can only delete some posts, and they do it on a volunteer basis, in their free time. If you think that going through spam is a thrilling thing - you are mistaken.

My post boils down to this:
1) It is pretty much useless suggesting captchas, vote systems and whatever, because no one can implement it.
2) It gives you nothing to plead for mods.
3) Basically the only way is - to take it. Nothing anyone can do about it. :-/

That's pretty much the long and the short of it. Sadly we can't do anything to stop them at the moment, it's just a matter of me being able to have time to delete the spammers and their posts.

The best thing people can do, is to keep reporting spam posts.

Cut their hands and they would write with their nose... :o)
Captcha would be useless too, I can tell from other sites.
The hardest thing is to refrain the desire to tell them to g# f@#* the $*ยข@# out of here!

Awww, it's a shame there is no way to prevent them from spamming. At least now I'll limit reports to one per bot and ignore the rest of the spam. Cutting their hands would be a good idea though :innocent:

if you need help i would volunteer to be an moderator in "The Art of Webteasing" normally i look min once a day in this sub forum and instead of report all the spam it would be easier to delete it directly

Just wanted to offer my help too. I've never reported so many posts as today, it's really immense.....

Thanks for the offer of help, I've only just logged on today and I can see things are slightly out of hand. Sadly I can't make people into mods. I will pass on your offer to the red dudes. :-)

In the mean time, bear with us. This spam might take a while to deal with. I don't have much time to spend on it today and it might get worse before it gets better.

Sorry I can't give any better news than that.
