Edging: side effects?

Hey guys!

I've seen some dude on youtube say edging may have negative side effects, like erectile dysfunction. The idea is that edging cranks up the dopamin levels in the brain like crazy, making all other sexual activities seem weak by comparison.

I've been seeing a slight decline in sexual desire, but then again, I'm getting older.

Do you guys feel any negative side effects from edging over long periods of time?

depends what you mean by.."negative" :hmmm:

I have had trouble reaching orgasm during sexual intercourse with my wife..
but I am not entirely sure, since I love denial..if that was a bad thing since she was really happy/ which was all that mattered to me..
not sure if that was helpful

maybe if you were a bit more clear.. what "effects" you are talking about...

a decline in sexual desire..= not wanting to have sex?

does this mean you are not including your partner? edging with them?
do you watch porn together?
some guys have difficulty getting hard without some porn.. that could be a separate issue..

and as you said there is the age issue

but I wonder does that mean you want to orgasm less? or it is just difficult to get an erection at all (if so that is a medical issue)

in short.. am more than happy to help.. if you can..expand/expound on what is going on a bit better

No, edging won't give you erectile dysfunction. It will increase your sexual need to whatever you edge to.

The problem with edging is that you are addicting yourself to whatever you edge to (porn, a specific fetish, masturbation in general, etc). This happens because you get high levels of dopamine for long periods of time, and this becomes more rewarding that other "normal" activities. For example, normal sex is usually less stimulating and may seem less interesting because of it.

This may not be an issue at all for you. Personally, when I edge I feel hornier but less interested in sex. If I abstain from porn and edging for a few weeks (not from cumming!), my drive for real sex goes up significantly. I prefer to mix the two.

I don't know, any side effects really.

I haven't had any, really. I'm just not able to cum 3 times a day like I was 4 years ago, but that's probably just age. Twice is fine too :-D

Seeing that video about edging having side effects just got me wondering a bit. That guy might have easily been talking out of his ass, so I figured I'd ask the population of this forum, who are very likely serial edgers

And those are interesting posts. I'm looking for anecdotal evidence.

Porn addiction is something I've heard a lot about, but when I stop for a few weeks, my mind is pretty much set back to normal.

I think there are certain triggers that happen unconsciously that create dysfunction and other orgasm difficulties. I say this because I've seen it in guys over the years. Especially guys with strong fetishes who get to the point where they are almost OCD about the elements being present to orgasm. But I think that edging is a great thing and if done properly can lead a man down wonderful uncharted paths :w00t:

During sex, your brain is flooded with chemicals. Edging just allows you to engage in sexual activity for a longer duration at a time. Of course, this needs to be handled with care. During an edging 2-day weekend, I can fap for like 7 hours (cumulative, with many breaks) to porn. This causes mild ED the next couple of days. I still can enjoy other things (music, tv). It's just that a tolerance to stimulation gets built. Solution: avoid sexual stimuli for the next week. Which is usually not a problem at all as the little dude is exhausted. The day after the 2-day session is one where I feel addicted, I spent quite some time downloading new scenes. The lil' dude is exhausted but the brain wants to go. After that day it's back to normal.

Often I go 2-3 days with many hours of fapping, the next two days downloading new scenes (but not fapping), and then 2-3 weeks completely off porn (with no effort required on my part).
I haven't had an orgasm for like 80 weeks, but I don't think it would have mattered otherwise.
