so, what to do with this?
http://www.microsoft.com/microsoft-hololens/en-us

I want to learn programming for (or with) it.

Develop something for "fun".. you know..

any good ideas, what could be developed or for what it could be used?

It`s brand new technology and I think it has some potential!

You should wait up on it. The thing shoiwn is currently inexistent. Their best prototype looks like a bunch of boxes with wires all around. It'll be at least a few years before they actually ship finished device.

Yep, you can signup as a beta tester though and probably receive the SDK to write your own programmes.

I suggest aiming for a device that is there already and almost on the market like google glass.

There are a few other options, using an Android or IPhone

the cheep choice would be to get a google cardboard device like the ones they have here
https://www.google.com/get/cardboard/
very cheap anybody can afford it if they already have a phone, not the best quality though

they have some mid-level plastic too :)

the same technology but with better glasses can be bought here
https://www.visusvr.com/home.html ( their product has not yet completeted )
or
http://zeissvrone.tumblr.com/
http://vr-one.eu/de/VR-ONE/VR-ONE.html? ... 0k7ur58pk1
I havent tried that one either, but zeiss is usually trustworthy

if you can wait for it to be finished the avant glyph looks promising too
http://avegant.com/

keep in mind that there is a big difference between argumentet reality and virtual reality, a smartphone has camera so any google cardboard compatible device should in theory work for argumented reality too

At a demo I tried Oculus rift
https://www.oculus.com/
it is entirely for the PC so limited, but it still gives a good idea about VR ( so far not argumented reality )

as for programming, I would suggest using unity for the easy to use and cross platform
http://unity3d.com/
but there are tons of other good options
and whatever programming tool you decide to use, I would argue against waiting for the technology to finish. Learning the basics is never wasted :) also Unity made software can run on both android and windows ( in theory ) so I think it is a good place to start

I'v spend some time researching game engines for my own project, and Unity3d seems to be the best option for free, and best option for a beginner anyway, because licensing (if you want to sell your product) is actually cheaper than any other good engine there is. OFC there are completely free engines, but you'll probably spend a ton of time trying to do even basics on them. Doesn't mean they are bad, they just need that much more effort put in from you, where Unity already have it build in.
Also Unity is the engine that goes with the time and updates very fast as soon as new technology comes out.

well, firstofall, VERY BIG THANKS.

all replies are very very useful and full of attention, interest, help and inspiration.

Thank you.

I`m here and checking the things.

Indeed, I thought I, or we, somebody, could develop something like a teasing edging machine that would work with it.. or something like that to make useful this technology.. more related with some more "playful" area..

Well what extended reality can do for teasing? Nothing. If you are thinking of an image of a beautiful girl right before you - forget it for now. Making something that actually looks realistic enough in real time is a feat that no one actually achieved yet even on PC. Something like Hololens with limited processing capability should forget it entirely, at least for now. Oculus Rift or other "Full VR" helmets are much more likely to succeed in that department.

however, maybe some real vision, like cinema but in hololens, women can be appear here or there, in the room. like a transparent png image file, just the woman, without a background can give a taste of being (maybe maybe) in a room with full of half or full naked women!

woooo ;----)

maybe??

No, not possible. For this women to sucessfully interact with your surroundings (room) they have to be real-time program driven. As I said before it's currently impossible to simulate even the movements of a person realistically enough, let alone body physics.
You can't just record some VIDEO and edit it, because the video doesn't have positioning data for you and objects in a room. Thus characters will e walking "Through" or rather overlaying the objects in your room, and your movements will not affect the picture much. You should try to check out Oculus Rift's porn technology where you have a 360 view of a room from one character's perspective.

They just said that Maya will be able to author hololens content, we have a prototype of that. We also demoed a separate Maya multitouch prototype at the Microsofts Build conference last week. There is nothing else to read into that.

I actually am doing research with the Microsoft Hololens at my university. It's not as simple as just playing a porn video on it though if that's what you're wanting. If you did that, it would just look like a webpage floating in front of you with porn on it. To accomplish anything neat, you would actually need 3d models and I suspect it will be very difficult finding 3d modeled porn that looks realistic. If you are still interested though, feel free to reply or pm me and I'll let you know what is/isnt possible with the hololens.

I've done some development with the hololens. For me the big issue with the lens currently is the small FOV.

For example: to see a life-sized woman, from head to toe, in your room; you would have to be positioned probably about 3 meters away minimum. Just to get her to fit "on screen".

I would agree that VR is a much better platform for teasing; more material for it exists, it's more immersive with the videos in your peripherals, and you can play basic video on it much easier currently.

With that aside I have some clarifications to make.

this is possible. you could create holograms out of single plane objects with a texture of said woman and place them around the room. but they would not move or interact without serious development. And again, you wouldn't be able to see them unless you are looking basically directly at them.

While it is true you need models to do anything super cool, you do not need full on models of people to accomplish something like hologram porn. Now if your goal is to be having sex with a hologram; you would need a modeled female and it would not work well, with the FOV issue, and the interaction. But, if your goal is to say watch some person(s) from a distance as they do X, you could use a method like the following image on a virtual pyramid type prism. but in order for that to work you would also need the right type of footage to map to that shape's texture. And a decent amount of programming experience.

Again I think Holo-Porn is a long way out still. It would be more amazing to work on sensory immersion for VR. But the world basically ends when we figure that out...
