Animated Gifs

Hey all,

Having a look round the older posts, I realise this has been mentioned before, but not recently...
Is there any way currently of incorperating animated gifs into either the 'normal' teases or flash teases?

Thanks,

- D

No. :-(

In FlashTeases it's impossible, because Flash doesn't support animated gifs. We are planning to allow users to add normal videos though, this is something we're working on.

In regular teases we don't allow them, because their biggest strength is that they are so simple. The format is fully standardized and because of that it's very easy to use it in various contexts. One example would be the CyberMistress converter, but you'll definitely see other uses in the future.

If exporting is the only concern, that's a bummer -- it seems like it would add a whole new dimension to the regular teases to allow animated gifs, with only a policy change.

Maybe force an Alternate Image (jpg) to be provided if the author chooses to use a gif? The the jpg could be used for automatic converters.

Not just a policy change. File sizes are less predictable - which is a big problem. The thumbnail creator would have to be changed. And exporting is just an example for the advantages of this simplicity. It also makes the site's code simpler. You see how many bugs there are in the FlashTease system? Well the regular tease viewer never had a single bug. I wrote it, it worked. It still works today.

Only adds more complexity. Sorry. Additional features in the FlashTease are welcome any day, but I'm pretty happy with the regular teases as they are. ;-)

Thanks though for the suggestion. I just want to say that I'd really like to do more development at the moment, but there is a lot of real-life stuff going on. But don't worry, at some point soon I'll be back in the game. :-D

I would still like to be able to format text in the teases.

That's actually the one thing that I'm considering to add. But you know how it is... so many features, so little time. :-D

No teases from me for over a month. I do understand. Way too many hours these last few weeks.
