I'm with you. I'd rather see what other people actally think of my teases than skew the results by rating my own.

I discovered the issue soon after I first joined, and I reported it to and discussed it with seraph0x. I tested it pretty thoroughly on my first tease because I wanted to see if it could be gamed. It cannot. That tease has a 3.5, despite me testing on it.

The truth is that you can only vote once, then you have to wait for a reset of the cache. I won't say the time period for the cache reset because that is up to seraph0x. But, it's long enough not to allow undue influence of your vote.

But, in reality, even if you vote for your own tease every so often, you cannot influence the vote one way or another. Too many other people vote, and the truth is going to come out within the first day or two no matter what you do. After a while, it takes several votes to influence the vote in either direction. Even the people who think it's funny to vote 1s or 2s have little longterm effect on the voting.

Just for the record, I will take the pledge, too; but it's not something to worry about.

If it makes you happy, of course you can vote for your own tease for a stunning 0.002 point boost.

In fact it would be even better to register a hundred accounts and vote a hundred times. With those hundred accounts you could even totally take over the TOTM vote itself.

Then again... you could also invest the same time in writing a better tease and win that way.

Seriously though: I can't stop people from cheating. If you'd like to help improve the situation, the first thing that comes to mind is to get more people to vote! Why not make a tease that explains the issue and encourages users to vote!
