I agree the only thing I can think of is make sure you use water based lubes with plastic toys....

Plastic can actually work with any type of lube (depends on the plastic of course, but plastic is neutral). It's Silicone that has the problem.

Regarding cloths pins. If you are just starting out they can be quite intense. Going on is difficult, but did you know taking them off can be just as bad as the blood starts to rush back in. OTOH if you find your clothespins too loose, you can put one on another. I don't know if I can describe it clearly enough and I couldn't find a picture, but the idea is that you put one clothespin on your nipple, then open another all the way, so it can "embrace" the one on your nipple and put it on the first, just next to your body.
