Please? wrote:It also seems everyone's doing 1 hour shifts. Why? Surely 1 hour is the maximum, not the requirement. All we have to do is make sure someone's edging at 3 minute intervals.
Because arranging 24 shifts is more than hard enough as it is, the last thing we need is more...

As for EST and EDT, we are EDT.

Current time on the east coast is (and this is EDT, despite saying EST, so just use this clock directly for your correct time): http://wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-z ... tern-time/

For the last time, EDT everyone.

Edit: Looking back it seems the two first shifts we done according to EST, while the rest are going according to EDT. Which means there was a gap between the second and third shifts. That means we have already somewhat busted, but I suggest adding at least one additional shift to the end, preferably two, to make it a whole 24 hours, hoping Jana will accept our confusion on the time zones, given how the specification were so confusing in the first place. I'll message her about this.

As far as I can tell, at least everyone from, and including, Sukero at the 11:00 AM shift has been done by EDT, which is what makes sense to keep doing. If someone wants to add an extra shift or two to compensate for possible glitches in the first couple shifts that makes sense I guess.

Table, corrected the label to EDT just to make sure no one down the line gets further confused:

Teaser is up in 12 minutes time.

central Europe add 6
eastern Europe (Finland, Turkey etc) add 7
US central time subtract 1
US mountain time subtract 2
US west coast subtract 3

Maybe I can help clear something up...

I am on the east coast of the US. It is currently just before 2 PM (14:00). This assignment started 5 hours ago. I signed up for 8:00 on the list, which is going to be 8 AM tomorrow. In my opinion, there is no way Jana would use a different east coast time than it currently is. You can see my post time (and know that it is about 2 PM on east coast of US), and compare it to what your phone/computer says, and figure out your time difference. Hope this helps.

I'm done!

BTW, If there IS a confusion, it's probably to late anyway! ;)

And here some help on the timing! ;)

That is precisely my thinking too, which is why I definitely interpret her "EST" as DST.

Please see my large post above on this topic.

For the record, I took the liberty of PMing Jana on the time zone issues, humbly asking for a little leeway when it comes to errors made due to DST confusion. Hopefully she will be understanding

Double checked time zones and everything, but just to confirm, my shift is next right?

Awesom, thanks! I've been looking for something like that. I knew online-stopwatch, but not the loop-countdown.

Quite the time zone clusterfuck... Yes, I did mean EDT (the time it actually is right now in the eastern US), not EST (which I mistaken have been using synonymously with EDT).

A misinterpretation and/or confusion around a time zone won't be sufficient cause for failure.

A lack of a full shift or promised participation will be.

(questioning the merit of this assignment...)

Jana, don't feel bad about it.

Normally, I'm sure time zones, although a challenge for some, would not have been a problem

The issue this time is the added confusion of daylight saving time.

As long as time zone mistakes are not consider a failure, I'm confident we will obediently succeed!

(as a side note, next week would been even worse, after most of Europe turns to winter time, while the US still is on DST another week lol)
