Well, the cane hurts like hell, especially when Miss Jay swings through!
I think the thing with the ruler is that Miss Jay can really have fun with it for quite a while because it's flatter and doesn't leave as obvious marks (I have to get fairly naked quite often for my degree). So yes, in the long run the ruler HURTS!
