I've never actually had or even seen any cucumber sandwitches. Must be a southern thing.
(I want a subway now we're talking about sandwitches

)

And that mention about a Royal cucumber de-seeder..... out of context that can sound funny .....

Seems like an older English thing - anytime I read a book that takes place in England in the 50s or earlier the characters are always eating cucumber sandwiches...
It's definitely not very American. Our sandwiches always have multple layers of meat and cheese. We couldn't have anything as healthy as a cucumber sandwich unless the cucumbers were deep fried first...

Do you guys actually eat cucumber sandwiches over in the U.K. (not the "cum" version, the regular vegetable version)?
That seems like a very bland sandwich...
slave alexander wrote:Yes we do but if you have a lemony maranade and no crust plus seasoning it is very nice and refreshing
i have a recepie the queen uses if your interested (you peel and deseed the cucmber too)
Speak for yourself buddy! It's too bland a sandwich for me... and Miss Jay isn't too fond of the cucumbers either :/

I'm a big fan of the big sandwich - it's an art form really. The intricacy of the layers and flavours... mmm! I should open a shop really
What's your favourite Miss D? (if you don't mind me asking)

I like a New York style (NOT Philadelphia style) steak sandwich.
Birdman actually makes a pretty good one - steak, carmelized onions, peppers & mushrooms with provolone cheese...
Can't eat that too often though or I don't look quite as nice in a bikini!
How about you Dan? And what is Miss Jay's favorite?
Mistress D
PS - Are you doing a nice job taking care of Miss Jay? She hasn't posted in a while, I hope that means that she's so satisfied that she can't even get out of bed!

What's the difference between a new york and philadelphia style steak sandwich?
Miss Jay's not a big sandwich fan really, she's more of a pasta salad lady!
I used to be hooked on the good old home made chicken bacon mayo combo, but now I've discovered the wonders of layered pastrami and chorizo melts.
Birdman's sounds good but I'd replace the steak with grilled chicken...
I've just made myself
so hungry.

Philly steak sandwiches are pretty famous in the US - but they are just overcooked steak, onions and a horrible fake-tasting liquid cheese-like substance...
Of course I'm from NYC and for the most part New Yorkers look down on anything that they do in Philadelphia so that might be part of it... But the New York style is far tastier...

Me too.
By the time Miss Jay gets back the only thing we're all gonna be desperate will be a butty.
