What?^^ Will there be an another release of this video? I would rather download that one then with the correction of the sounds concerning distortion.
When will it happen?
I'm not sure I follow with the distortion people are mentioning, I haven't experienced it on my end. Is it happening throughout, or just at certain points? If so, what points?
Now that I've downloaded it, I wanted to weigh in here. I haven't watched more than 20 minutes so far.
I would say that the beat track is gained up a little too high. It sounds like there is clipping going on because it's too "loud" so the nuance of the beats is getting killed and adds a sort of static sound to it.
--Okay, I guess this isn't the case 100% of the time. Round 1 is clearly distorting, but round 4 doesn't sound too bad. If anything I think the music in round 4 sounds a little intentionally distorted (i.e. the music is made to sound that way) but the beat sounds are fine...
I see the interlacing people mentioned... very odd, considering at least one of the offending scenes is clearly from a website and not like it's been recorded from a TV feed or something. You might want to just take a small clip in a project and see if you can figure out what's going on there.
Personally I don't mind the 4:3... I'm still using a 4:3 monitor, actually. :) I prefer more vertical space; 1080 feels cramped when I'm actually doing anything like reading text or even playing games.
One thing I've found, around the 20:45 mark there's a glitch in the video that actually freezes VLC. I went through it in WMP and saw the glitch, but WMP recovered it. When I tried to pick a new spot in the video to resync things, it actually broke VLC and I had to kill the process from the taskmanager. I'm not sure what the deal is there, but it's sort of problematic.
Like I said I haven't gone past round 3 yet, but unless you ever get into "complex" beats and not just slow/med/fast, you might want to consider a sleeker indicator. I was envisioning a thin border around the entire video with the color of the current speed, or maybe just a solid color box in the corner or something. I don't think the text itself is necessary if you put up a legend at the start, and it might look nice. Or... just a multi-size graphic, instead of using colors (more bars/squares in a line, thinner or thicker border, etc.) since you don't have to indicate a beat pattern.
And finally, I can see why you're looking at such a huge file size. This thing is just shy of 2 hours long! Really really long. I'm not going to tell you to change that, necessarily, but you might want to consider editing down the rounds a bit if your song choices aren't forcing that length.
So far, I like round 3 a lot. Good scenes, long-ish times between cuts, the music works well, and I'm glad you mixed in the original scene audio. I kind of hopped through round 1 and 2 since I'm not big on warm-up rounds, but they seemed good other than the audio clipping on the beats.
-- Ok, went through the rest. I enjoyed a lot of the themes and scenes in the rest, especially 7 and 9. I think it was 7 and 9 anyway. :) And I do also really like your approach to the Reward finale... even if it could practically be a whole CH by itself. heh. More of the best parts of the earlier themes is a great idea, imo, especially compared to rewards that are completely different than everything before them (as some authors are prone to do).
So yeah, the ideas are very good as a base, and as you get more comfortable with the tools I think people will be more and more pleased by your efforts. :)
