I have access to a 2nd computer. Maybe I could try to render a 720p version simultaneously in parallel? It would probably be done before than the 1080p render. I cut corners when I render the 720p versions by setting the crf to 24 instead of 18, because the goal is not "best image quality" for smaller resolutions.

I want to see it in 1080p, it's just strange that it's taking 13 hours.

It takes me about 1.5 minutes per minute of footage to render directly from premiere. Granted this isn't the same thing, it seems like you're taking a 50GB video and turning it into a 4GB video.

I have an Intel Core i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.40GHz. Maybe that's why?

I would imagine you have a much faster CPU with greater than 4 cores? I don't have premiere. I used Blender to create the lossless render. Actually, I used 4 instances of Blender simultaneously because, for some reason, Blender restricts itself to only a single core during rendering. Then after that, I run it though FFmpeg for the final encode.

Yeah, I have no idea if this causes a bottleneck or not. This method provides me with the best flexibility in terms of size / quality ratio. The funny thing here is that the initial lossless encoding only took about 4 hours.

Is it possible you have the original file on a hard drive with less than 50GB free space?

I know this can cause issues sometimes.

But yeah, my current CPU (Ryzen 3500x) has 6 cores and 12 threads, the CPU I used to render descent was an i7-4790k. I honestly should re-build that machine and use it as a headless slave. I upgraded because I thought that the CPU/Mobo combo was causing crashes when it turns out to be one of my hard drives :(

df reports: My main drive is getting full, but I am using Z: drive for French Touch.

Thank you for all the effort to make this great video! I think we would all accept some delayed gratification to get the 1080p version :)

Frantzo and I put a lot of effort into this one. Frantzo had a lot of great ideas for French Touch and I'm grateful that I was able to use my expertise to help make those ideas come to life.

It was a lot of work, much more work than French Riviera or Lust Dream, but I believe it will all be worth it in the end. We shared a lot of laughs, too.

Now, I don't want to hype it up too much and cause people to have sky high expectations. Nor do I want to publicly state whether I think it is better or worse than what came before. That is for the fans to decide for themselves and I don't want to skew their expectations beforehand.

1080p render: 4h35m remaining
720p render: 2h15m remaining

After each is done rendering, I'll take a glance at it and then send it off to Frantzo for release.

720p version has finished rendering; looks wonderful. I've sent it off to Frantzo and am now awaiting the 1080p version, which has less than 1 hour remaining.

EDIT: 1080p version has finished rendering and has been sent to Frantzo. It took 2 hours to upload. ...And with that, my task here is done and I'm jumbo tired.

This process certainly wasn't befitting of my username...
