Thanks guys! Your anticipation is very motivating as I am in crunch time right now.

The video is "done" but it's astonishing how much time the "polish" phase can take. It feels like there are 100 things to tweak or improve, each only taking a few minutes but adding up to a lot of work.

I am expecting to release the evening of the 23rd, which is likely the 24th for many of you. Your patience is appreciated as I make sure that this video meets everyone's high expectations.

Quick project update:

The polish phase is taking longer than expected. A release tonight is possible if everything goes right, but I will not be surprised if this slips into the weekend.

I promise the wait will be worth it.

I don't mind the waiting.
Even if the release date is next week.

It won't take a week. It's basically done. My most recent change was to add one missing beat into a pattern. That's the level of QC we're down to now. Friday release is the most likely scenario right now.

UPDATE: I'm currently doing what should be my final quality check. I am now confident that this will release tonight. I'll update with a time estimate when I start rendering the final video.

Well, considering that some years have 365 days, and some years have 366 days, plus the leap second drift, is the concept of a fixed anniversary valid anyway? I also don't mind the wait, I certainly don't wish a manufacturer recall on this production. Our lives depend on it. Also, maybe historians will eventually conclude that the original production release date wasn't actually on March 23rd because of added download links at later dates.

Yep. I just started rendering what I believe will be the release video. That will take about 4 hours. I'll then watch the video all the way through to make sure I didn't screw anything up. That puts us about 5 hours away from release at the time of this post.

The video is going to be about 6.5GB for the 1080p version and have about an hour of content (including the branching path). I'll get a 720p version up on MEGA tomorrow for those who don't want to deal with that filesize.

Niceee. Don't hesitate also if you find anything you still want to tweak, it's sometimes worth the extra half day lost rendering to end up with something you are really happy with.

The render's going faster than expected. Release ETA 1 hr 15 min if no errors in the video.

EDIT: Aaaaaaand there's a problem. The branching path requires the player to skip to a particular timestamp, but for reasons that are unfathomable to me, when I tell VLC to go to that time, it actually goes to a time a few minutes prior. I've never seen anything like this before but I have to assume if it happens to me it'll happen to others.

EDIT 2: I've decided to re-encode as an MP4 at 720p. This should solve the immediate problem and allow me to add a chapter skip feature which was requested earlier in the thread. Unfortunately this requires 3 more hours of rendering plus another hour of review, so I'm going to call it a night with the expectation of releasing later today (the 25th).

I'll try and get a working 1080p version out later on.

Apologies to those who stayed up hoping for an imminent release. I'm really proud of this video and excited to share it with you. It's coming soon, I promise.
