For anyone having trouble with the v0.1.1 update:
Just swapping out the GuideMe jar file will not work-- you will have to download the entire Win32 or Win64 zip file again. The links still say v0.1.0 but they have been updated as well.
Technical stuff:
It appears the classpath in the manifest has changed. The new version references new library jars, and new versions of existing jars, so it causes a NoClassDefFoundError on the first library class that it can't find in the old GuideMe_lib folder. Also, a note to whoever maintains start.bat: The classpath flag -cp is ignored when you specify a jar file because it will use the classpath specified in MANIFEST.MF. So start.bat should be able to run with just this:
Code: Select all
java\bin\javaw.exe -jar GuideMe.jar

So I'm trying Guideme for the first time and I can't get any audio to work I'm playing _HeartsClub when I know there should be audio at certain parts. Am I missing something in the preferences?

There are volumes in application preferences but these default to 100
It uses VLC top play sound and video files which needs to be the correct version.
It should pick up the version in the GuideMe directories but it will sometimes pick up other versions if already installed.
Which version of GuideMe are you running and is it 64bit or 32bit

I running 1.0, but I tried updating to 1.1 but the Mega link wasn't working for me for the last couple days. However, I think I read somewhere here that the update is already integrated in the main download link. Also is indeed the 32 bit version that I'm running.

After each encounter, when you go back to the lobby, you should see the number is higher; the longer you last in the encounter, the faster the number goes up. If you get to the end of a given series, you'll see the number increase by 10.

I had the same problem. After looking through the debug logs, it turned out that the problem here was that the pathname contained non-ascii characters. It looks like GuideMe can't handle such pathnames. The error in vlc.log was
Code: Select all
vlcj: (MediaResourceLocator.java:106) | DEBUG | Can not obtain a valid URI from the MRL
Changing the name of the problematic folder fixed things for me.

How do I access the log? I've been looking around the debug screen somewhat aimlessly.

It is a file, there should be a logs directory under the guide me main directory

Hi guys,
I need some help here.
I tried to change Skirmish tease: instead of gameover page I want to have a cum page as I am not into a denial and would like to have option to cum when I want. Unfortunately when I only change source file name for the picture or audio file name the tease doesnt start at all.
I am missing something but I cant find what.
Just want to put instead of any fail page a page with random picture from a added folder or a piece of video to have fun at the end.
Can someone tell me how to do this? Replace bad end with a happy end. Please.
Thank you.

If you post a chunk of text showing before and after your change (using a code block will make it easier to read).
Also what program are you using to edit the file.

smurf3n wrote:I'm sry if this question has been raised before but why is this application Windows speific? Java, vlc and xml are all cross-platform compatible...
Part of the reason for rewriting it from c# to java was so it is cross platform.
I think Takenaga got a mac version working if you look back through the thread.
it should be possible for linux as well. I had an early version working.
It has been a bit of a pain to do the different versions.
We are currently porting it to netbeans which should make it a lot easier.
It is currently focused on windows as almost everyone who wanted to take part in the testing was on windows so it made sense to get it working there first.

I have uploaded log files as winrar archive taken after starting application 3 times - first start was on original xml file, wchich was working and the other two with changed jpg target file and audio target file changed and with the whole page changed to cum page, where te name of the page has been left without changes(fail page) - I thought if I will not change the name of the page it will open when fail occurrs but it should display cum page what I actually wanted to see...
I am using EditiX 2008 service pack 2 - free version to edit the xml file
It did work well when I rebuilded teases for tease me but I cant do nothing with guide me (maybe because I dont understand java settings...?)
To change tease me teases I also copied the whole pages with changed media directory and randomised single files only to replace other ones or multiply them.
But this does not work for guide me.
If I change any single letter the tease does not start anymore...
I looked at the log files but I got no clue what is what...
Eventually I upload the changed xml`s so you can see what I tried to change --> the very last page (no 98) "page id Game Over"
I put all files together it is easier to download:
http://www46.zippyshare.com/v/11454982/file.html
If you can make it work for me with random picture or video from separate folder would be nice --> I could just put this file and create correct folder on my hdd...

Sorry I think you chose the wrong download site
I click on the download it counts down 44 seconds then refreshes the page.
(tried in chrome and firefox get the same)
Try a sensible site like mega
