The general points are already up on the forum. You know as much about it as I've been willing to address up to now. Forgotten? Are you f***king kidding me?

- But okay - you caught me in a weak moment. You wanna know what happened that drove me damned near insane with pain? Sure, why the hell not ...
Anna was here visiting. She and I had been speaking for a year at that point - daily. We'd developed a strong friendship, and she had been planning on visiting the US anyways. I invited her to come visit. My wife was aware. Not entirely thrilled, but aware. To be fair, our marriage hadn't been going so well anyways. There were some deeply rooted underlying issues.
Anna's last few days, prior to taking her back to the airport to fly home, we spent out of town. The day it was time for her to board her flight, we discovered her passport missing. We did our best to locate it, but were unable. I chose to help my friend. I drove her down to the nearest British Consulate, which happened to be in San Fransisco, California. Nearly a six hour drive from where we were. We made arrangements to get an emergency replacement for her, so she could get home. While we were in San Fran, I received a phonecall from my employer, telling me that he was terminating my employment. I was a tiny bit upset over this, and called my wife to discuss it with her. During the conversation, she was a bit distant, which I picked up on pretty quickly. Ultimately, she told me she wanted a divorce. Same day, about fifteen minutes apart. During subsequent conversations, she told me that she had been seeing some guy that she worked with, and had slept with him.
So, let's review. I lost my job. I found out my wife didn't love me. I found out my wife had cheated on me. And my best friend in the world was leaving the following day, to go back to her home, nearly six thousand miles away. I'm now faced with the prospect of going home to deal with a complete disaster, with no income, and no home.
And you wonder what the hell drove me very nearly over the edge?
Thanks for the compassion, and respect in leaving things best left where they belong, in the past. I mean fuck man, I was just beginning to drag myself back to a manageable place in my life. That really fucking helped.
