I'd hate to disagree but assuming you're taking the classical approach then x ∈ real numbers, then the range of arctan is: -∏/2 (pi/2) <= (arctan x) <= ∏/2 (pi/2)....

So that's either 90 in degrees or 1.57079633...

Yes, the answer could be 3.14. So I'm a bit confused... You wrote 'pi', and you wrote 3.14. So.... which? Pi? Or 3.14? Because certainly if you meant 'pi', Miss Jay would probably dole out infinite edges and ballspanks...
