Re-reading my post I think I mostly agree with what I said in May, but it sounded like I was more depressed then compared to now. I still think that the winter we see now is just the art moving on as a new generation mutates it towards the future, considering peak cock hero for me was almost 6 years ago.

In general I think the problem boils down to the content being unmonetizable. Take a shitty hentai game called Honey Select 2. Google that shit right now. The community serves as a platform for dozens of content creators who 3d model porn scenes for a shitty unity game. They have Patreons that could support the average citizen from a middle economy country. It's wild. Look at Virtual Succubus, that dev makes like $24,000 a month.

I'd wager that you'd see a lot more CH content if it were possible to sell without relying on pirated or otherwise copyrighted content. I have produced a few videos, and I have a few fleeting ideas for more, but the fact is, I simply do not have the time or the passion to continue in the same way I did when I made descent 1. Part of this is that I feel like the medium is really stale and I have zero control over the actual shots. I burn out super quickly trying to find content that fits my idea for a round. I think descent 2 was worse than the original because I was rushing and tried to hard to fit my pre-determined plan for the video. descent 1 just sort of flowed out of my dick. But I digress.

Unfortunately and very sadly I think you are right. I've seen that same decline and less and less content coming out. Tons more moving to monetised options, porn studios clamping down on sites making it even harder for people to share their creations. content has shifted to girls posting onlyfans, twitter and again monetising it.

I've seen a shift towards toys i.e funscripts and estim etc and quite a bit of new content is popping up for those on a much more frequent basis. I think primarily as the hook is simple make the toy match the actions or beat. Owner of a handy myself CH series fit the usage so well but most of what comes out is a single clip and many roads lead to paywalls.

it will be a real shame to see the CH series die a death, i'm a huge fan of the series and especially those that included additional challenge, stories especially with multiple routes and outcomes. I have always thought the studios have missed a trick themselves, they focus so heavily on clamping down to have clips protected and CH content killed (pornhub/spankbang) both perfect examples, but the studios themselves could easily produce CH content, never really understood why they wouldnt. SexLikeReal and few got on the handy bandwagon and script for those but again just scene by scene, not any CH, pmv or story driven creation.

I totally agree with you all. Attention spans are shorter nowadays and the CH format couldn't find enough exposure to be really popular when it had its chance. Being a very niche content, new viewers (and thus creators) won't replace the old ones and this creates a feedback loop were the general interest keeps decaying.

Also, the format is so explored already. I'm currently creating a new one just for the sake of editing and can't barely find new things to keep it fresh.

I don't think this will die because some guys here are very commited to the genre. Maybe it could have its rebirth some day as short edits like current PMVs, but never as 1 hour productions. But my guess is as good as yours.

I am not sure if it ever was very popular. Probably more five years ago than now. I still have a big following in Spankbang waiting for my next release (OK, maybe 10% of porn site users remember their passwords). We are still continuing as a gentleman's club here on Milovana.

The old stuff is disappearing and most creators do their 5 -10 video stint, which I understand because after that one has explored all the ideas and content. Getting new creators to join the scene might be a zoomer problem, as you have discussed.

I'm still optimistic because we get some diamonds now and then.

I think's it's just an awareness problem. The only reason I stumbled across this kind of content was because of hands free sex toys like lovense vibrators. I already wrote in another thread, I do not think so negative about the Cock Hero trend. Maybe it will become negative but at the moment and for the years since 2020 in terms of the pure amount of Cock Hero videos it really is pretty cold but in terms of the quality of the releases it is still pretty, pretty hot.

Ironically maybe this high bar, is one of the reasons that there are less releases the last years. This bar could be pretty frightening.

I mean I have no clue about the hardcore Cock Hero videos but the production of the videos of Supermassive and Strothy seem to be extremly high in terms of video production quality in the hardcore segment.

For me pure softcore productions also made a big quality step the last 2 years with the 2 videos of Tia Blaze.

And softcore+hardcore we had very great videos of e.g. Frantzo and Rinascere the last years. And I mean more than one.

And all the guys I mentioned (and many more) did not only made some lame compilations with a metronome, they created immersive movies with their own style.

So yeha as long as each segemnt of softcore/hardcore/both still gets 1-2 videos per year and the quality is increasing/continuing like the last years I hink it is still a pretty solid output.

I'm just about done curating content for a new CH video, anyway, but my free time is very limited right now, so it's slow going. I know mine aren't to everyone's tastes (but then pretty much none of them are :), but for those who've liked my previous ones, hopefully you'll enjoy the new one. That said, while the music is mixed and the beats are made, the actual video editing still has to get done, so it'll be a while still. Hopefully this spring. :)

Great to hear things are happening. I also notice that a lot happened during the holidays! I can relate to the fact that we don't have as much time for creating videos as needed.

As for me, I have two in the works, and I'd like to finish at least one of them. None of these two are my regular videos, so maybe that is slowing me down.

I think that sooner or later every winter will be followed by spring.
We had a hot "pandemic summer" as many people were stuck at home and obviously had free time on their hands.
But if we consider how many probably usable AI-based tools have appeared on the horizon in the last year alone, I think we will sooner or later see higher-quality productions with possibilities that were previously unthinkable.

I, for example, have recently paused because I'm working on image generation first, followed by text generation, then audio/voice generation, and probably soon AI video generation (as soon as LCM-Lora is revised and actually usable).
And when I see stuff like this (https://github.com/OthersideAI/self-operating-computer), then I hope to soon have an AI video editing solution that achieves usable results.

I am equally enthusiastic and mortified about AI porn. I have a feeling we will enter an era where VR/AR/AI will make reality obsolete and I can't shake this uncanny valley feeling. I don't want to die in a nursing home while my brain lives on in a black mirror episode. But I also recognize that some of the ideas that I have are monumental tasks and AI could make those tasks way easier.

My two cents is that it's just post-covid syndrome

Stable Diffusion for image generation, all sorts of text generators for .. text and not so much voice generators for voiceover

I mean all these make production much easier
