Symbol of Faith was edited entirely in kdenlive. It was extremely painful.
Of all the bugs I had to work-around, the one you faced with the audio thumbnails was not one of them. I wouldn't even try to do this without audio thumbnails.

Check if you see a directory named "audiothumbs" under the directory of your project. Delete that and see if that causes kdenlive to regenerate the audio thumbnails correctly. Good luck.

Yeah, there were bugs galore when I was editing my Softcore Collaboration 2 rounds. I was using Kdenlive on Windows, so it was even more unstable.

Thank you for your suggestion about the audio thumbnails. I found them in "%USERPROFILE%\Appdata\Local\kdenlive\cache\%ugly_timestamp_directory_name%\audiothumbnails".

I've already created my own workaround to that problem in this post:
