I think you should just roll a dice or draw a card to pick who is in. Have 7 black card and the rest red. Deal out 1 card to each person. IF they get a black they are in, else they are not.

Actually, if there's limited numbers, think I'll drop out and just see how it progresses :)

I'm guessing you didn't read, but she already had too many sign up before initial signups closed, and so is currently having to narrow it down before she starts, so I know she isn't taking any extra signups.
