I can't get into the chat room either. Is there some tech issues on your side, or could it be me? I see that a couple of people have had this problem, so I'm leaning towards a tech problem. :-/

I noticed a bug in the IDLE system.

1. Join the lobby
2. Sit there for 15 min
3. Join a room

you will immediately get kicked for inactivity *-*..

I think we should disable that function anyways. Whats the reason idlers are not welcome ? ;)...

I'm an Idler at heart  , and love to see sometimes if theres anything interesting happening where I can contribute to the conversation. (without having to rejoin first and than wait and see whats the topic (if any))

I agree, the boot system is more harm than good. If there's nothing going on in chat, I'll be looking at a different page, then come back to see a conversation had started just before I got booted, and then only get to see 2 lines of it. Very much annoying!

I actually Like the 15 min boot

The best defense I have found on not getting kicked
is typing a few spaces
on the chat window
hitting send
and then waiting some more

I realize it's an annoyance, but can you imagine if you were out on the street, and your freedom to speak to people was limited by some government agency? Nah .. I say live, and let live. And you're right, there's a mute feature built in, if you want to simply ignore someone. In the end, I think we're better off leaving things as-is for the time being. Over-regulation is never an answer.

Does it also go against general advice of sit and watch for a while so you get a feel for how a group/site works ?

I think, that 15 minute kick is rather annoying.
What problem should that solve anyway? Guys hanging around, waiting for females?
The problem is, that the chat room is not frequented enough, that there would be some conversation the whole time. So people enter and leave it open, and when something happens, they join the conversation. With a 15 min kick, that doesn't really work, the time is just too short for a chat like that.
Maybe you could at least extend it to 30min or 1h.
