As noted, the best odds of your number being thrown center around the #7, however, I don't consider it flawed (no more than say, backgammon, is flawed - hahaha)...
And as noted as well, if you're in the 0 or 1 slot, you have no chance of your number being rolled, but you ALSO ~just~ entered the game....

Yes, odds are not good at that slot, but once the game starts going along, you'd have to have INCREDIBLY bad luck not to have gotten your number chosen longgggg before you get there.....

Why don't you fill people in the upper slots? Say just make him slot 8 instead of yourself and that's it. If someone else turns out, make him 9th. After all, it's their fault for not being fast enough, and it's not like upper slots are so much worse.
