This is by far the easiest way and you don't need to rely on the kindness of a stranger risking their own neck for you. One commonly recommended route is: Study up for the redacted interview, get in to RED via their irc interview, transcode a few albums following their how-to guides and upload them to move up the user ranks and get access to the invite forum, then it's a matter of sending a PM to get an EMP invite. The user rank requirements typically have a time component so this can take a few weeks, but the effort is entirely on you and not praying for a miracle.

There is not any incentive to invite anyone. Invite trading is strictly banned, so if you trade an invite in any way, either for money or some other thing, they will ban both of you immediately.
And even if you are a "good real life friends", there's still no reason to risk your account to invite anyone, because you will be responsible for them, to the end of your life. It's a lot of responsibility to literally gain nothing. If you can't trade it for something equal... who is going to be that person, you have so much trust in them?! Maybe somebody from your family, but even that's not reasonable in most cases.
I think if they've got some "grace period" of 1 or 2 years and then "your" friend is not connected to your account any longer... maybe then there would be some incentive to give accounts. But in a case you're responsible forever for them... nah... I don't have such good friends... sooner or later people part their paths and then what, you lose your Empornium account, because your old friend doesn't care any longer and does something stupid and they ban you both.
I've got my invite long time ago from another tracker and not from a friend... I think it's almost impossible to get an account from a friend, even if you're "best friends", because he/she will be always responsible for your actions.

Well, we are still humans and so are people handling the cases when things go south. I've been on the other end and if someone fucks up after few years being invited by someone it really doesn't matter anymore. Of course there can be dickheads as staff too but not that likely. And if whole staff is full of dickheads, it's better to move on anyways. They don't deserve you and you shouldn't waste your efforts
Invites are really to get your friends in so that's what you use them if you use. Other than that the invite threads on some trackers get you in. I wouldn't worry too much about inviting your friends assuming they know the wheels roll with the trackers. It's not that hard and in the end private trackers do need new users as old ones go inactive during the years. You inviting someone who knows the deal means there are less work for them to keep it rolling in the future. Winwin but public forums like this obviously don't work well because you don't really know the one you are inviting. People would also give out invites to people without knowing them more easily if they weren't so limited which would add more cleanup work for mods. So current equilibrium is what it is. Most people have limited amount of friends "in the scene" and amount of invites given out by most trackers match that

Hm, I'm wondering if someone could help me with my account. It's the same name as here but the account has been inactive for some years (with the uprise of one click hosters I didn't need it so much). However, when I try to get it reactivated, it says a message has been sent... but there is no message.

According to your "Last Seen" stat, nobody has hacked or stolen your account, it's a good point.
Bad news, there is a little symbol behind your account name, who said "Be good, and you won't end up like this user" when you pass the mouse over it, and according Empornium's forum, this symbol means "Members who for whatever reason are not longer among us".
Unfortunately, there is automatic ban for inactivity on Empornium (I wasn't aware of that before doing some research on your account) : 4 months for low level accounts, 1 year for high level accounts (like yours).

As to the substance of this whole thread, I have to admit, well, I'm glad y'all are discussing the specifics but because Empornium restricts the nature of invitations, it's really unlikely that this thread will be helpful to anyone. I have had Emp invitations available to give out, but I don't generally avail myself of that option simply because it would more likely expose me to problems than it would likely benefit the Emp community (or benefit me, I suppose; though, I can't imagine how ...), but I guess I remain available for communication on the subject.
Someone like the initial Milovana member from other parts of the exchange below would be the best example of someone who "deserves" an Emp invite, IMO, because of past prove-able contribution.

They're helpful on their IRC channel. Even if they can't resurrect your old membership, your excellent historical ratio may suggest that a mod or other respondent would give you one of his personal invitations.
(And why are we using the verb "invite" as a noun when English has a perfectly good noun, "invitation," already?)

Will do. I was there yesterday but noone anwered me, just a bot which told me to go to the page and re-activate myself. Duh. Even when I put "no" as answer to "do you still have access to your email"

Yeah I agree, the IRC channel has worked for me a few times. Generally it's populated at times which are "porn prime", i.e. evenings in time-zones of North Am. and Europe. If it hasn't worked for you yet, keep trying, is my suggestion, like Larceny.

Well the good news is, if it was never used you certainly wouldn't of had any invites...
