There are also excellent free tools. I dropped Adobe Premiere and After Effects due to the cost, and switched to DaVinci Resolve, and so far I'm really happy with it. It's professional level, and free for the basic package. And if you do buy it, it's a one time fee of a few hundred dollars. Just saying that expenses aren't necessary, and are the choice of the creator.
I haven't tried Resolve myself. I did use vegas for a few years and just recently switched to adobe. And just in terms of work flow it's night and day. Besides the time saved it just runs smoother as well. But yes visually and effects wise they all can be achieved between all nle's. I have also been hearing good things about resolves built in color grading so in the end might even look better.
I'm really impressed with it so far, at least, and I just recently switched. All my previous releases were done with Premiere and After Effects. So far Resolve has crashed less and while Fusion takes a little getting used to for visual effects, I've already found things that it can do simply that was a lot more work in After Effects. For my use, at least, I've been very happy, and even if both were free, I might actually have gone with Resolve anyway, now that I've gotten used to it. Not everything is perfect, but it's high quality.

One thing that used to be popular was to have an Amazon wish list. It would seem to decouple any donations from the content, that lies in a grey area of copyright law. All art is built upon other art and I feel that CH videos should fall under Fair Use, but US copyright law is a strange beast. Knowing what's just and what's legal are two different things.

I don't expect to receive any income from this. It's just a shady hobby I have.
We are all working with, let's say, borrowed material here, so it would be immoral (in my mind) and illegal (in a judge's mind) to charge for creating CH videos.
Then again, some might take the risk, since the reality of someone getting prosecuted for this are minimal. As others have said, the money to be made is minimal even then.
BTW, just noticed that Feel the Vibe has been removed because of a copyright claim at Spankbang. Such is CH life.

Fair Use has a lot more to do with how you feel about your work. As the creator, the artist, you're the one that has to defend the piece and artistic merits behind the piece. As a community we should be highlighting and elevating these pieces. Not just financially but as a genre.
If as a community we constantly describe cock hero's as porn compilations we fap to. Then that's what they will ultimately become. Cock Hero's use to almost be exclusively described as cinematic, as porn operas, musicals. They were completely immersive you quite often found yourself lost in the journey you were being taken on. As you would reading a book or watching a movie. It would be belittling to the creator of these works to imply they are nothing more than porn compilations.
There's a lot of extra work that goes into the planning and creation of these story/themed based Cock Hero's. Taking porn and turning it into a medium in which you use to express yourself is transformative.

I highly advise you seek the opinion of an attorney because that's basically the actual definition of fair use.

Actual definition of Fair Use in the US:
https://www.copyright.gov/fair-use/
Transformative is a factor, but it's at least a four-factor test and being non-commercial helps (but does not guarantee) a work falls under fair use. Hence the need to avoid the appearance of financial gain or commercial use. What an attorney will tell you is that it's a possible defence but no one can guarantee what a judge is going to say falls under fair use and that the fight will be too expensive for an average person.
I'd agree that CH videos are an artistic endeavour that takes porn to a new level, going beyond anything the major studios are pumping out. Most all artistic movements start underground and offend the sensibilities of the establishment.
