I'm currently encoding it in H.264 using Eriol's Handbrake guide (posted elsewhere in this forum) to reduce file size. I'm also planning on seeing how small a H.265 version would look.

I'm wondering, if I release it exclusively in H.265, would that affect other peoples' ability to even watch it?

Yes, it would. The trade-off is that the decrease in file size requires a more powerful CPU.

I can only guess as to the percentage of users that would be affected, but it's probably more than 20%. Most CPUs released after 2015 can do HEVC playback, but some people are bound to have older CPUs.

Gotcha. I'll keep it at H.264 then.

You could always release a H.265-720p reencode for those filesize conscious, PrimeSwitch. This one might play very well on smart phones.

I used this guide to compress the original H.264 render (which was 10gigs) to 2.75gigs. 1080p, 60fps, H.264 AAC. No noticeable drop in video quality. That's that good shit.

Beta testers have submitted their feedback. Last minute touches are complete. Final video has been rendered and I will begin encoding tonight.

I wish I would have gotten to Beta test this, I've had the last two days off and have been craving some new fun before I go back to work tomorrow. Damn. Looks like I'll have to try to find time to enjoy the final product this weekend.
