Mine was to thoughts of one of my first girlfriends, Heidi, when I was about 11. I was an American kid living in Germany, and she was a local girl my age with good English who I hung out with every day. Of course, "girlfriend" is a label I didn't learn until later. Heidi was just Heidi to young me. But in retrospect, we were totally a thing.

Around that age, a girlfriend is: A girl you hang out with every chance you get, but you have no idea why you suddenly need to be around her, because you never needed to hang out with girls before. And she feels the same way about you, which is great, but she understands what's happening a lot better than you do, because girls mature faster than boys. So she's flattered and excited, and you're just oblivious. But whatever, you're happy. Then one night, you're thinking about her, and something very surprising and sticky happens. But you're still just as oblivious and nothing else really changes. You carry her books sometimes.
